Three interesting and important exhibitions are now on view at the Freedman Gallery, which is FREE and open to the public. Regular hours are Tues.-Fri., 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sun., 1-4 p.m. Dan R. Talley will provide a lecture in Klein Hall next Thursday, Feb. 6, 4 p.m., to be followed by a public reception in the gallery from 5-7 p.m. Please join us, or drop in when you can for:

In “Welcome to Flattened Flat Space,” 2018, single channel HD video, 4:02 minutes, Han questions time, space, and reality in our digital world.
“Anne Buckwalter: Repeating X”
Jan. 28–March 13, Freedman Gallery (Project Space)
Using traditions from the artist’s Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry, Anne Buckwalter explores how gender-related expectations are defined and disrupted. Incorporating folk art traditions from Amish quilt patterns and Vorschriften writing exercises, Buckwalter juxtaposes convention with contemporary issues of feminine identity, sexuality, and health.

“Dan R. Talley: State: Obvious/Not So (selected works, 1973-Present)”
Jan. 28–April 9, Freedman Gallery (Main Gallery)
A retrospective exhibition honoring Dan R. Talley’s nearly five decades as an artist, arts educator, curator, and critic. Talley is the co-founder of two long-running and well-respected arts organizations, Real Art Ways and Art Papers. As an artist, Talley works in multiple mediums and is a faculty member of Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. “State: Obvious/Not So (selected works, 1973-Present)” will trace his artistic career through selected installations, video works, photography and ephemera.
