Thanks again for attending our Santa Train. Most of these volunteers spent all five days making this event happen. They all deserve a big thank you for dealing with the cold, rain, fog and a little bit sunshine. We love this tradition as much as you love attending. The year’s format was designed with your time in mind. There is no more wait time. Tickets required are for departure time. Trains leave every ten minutes. Current availability on Saturday is from 12:40 to 2:20 and Sunday’s availability is from 11:50 to 2:20. Morning times are sold out. You can still walk up day of and buy an available departure time. Online sales close 10pm the night before.

We are pleased to announce that the Santa Train has been extended to one more weekend. We encourage you to reserve tickets ahead of time to guarantee a spot. Walk ups are allowed only if we are not sold out. Currently we have plenty of seating available after 12pm both days. The first train leaves at 10:30 and the last train leaves at 2:30. Don’t miss your departure time. Plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to check in. Saturday we plan to have three steam engines running. Maybe Sunday too don’t miss it

Santa Train event this weekend we will be running as scheduled. Saturday the hourly forecast show rains starts at 2pm. Sunday looks good in the morning with scattered showers in the afternoon. The trains will run on their departure time even in light rain. Don’t miss your time. Your digital download photo will be ready 12 hours after the event day.
The first 300 families will get a keepsake ornament. Also letters to Santa with a return address on it will get a postcard from Santa.
Refunds and rebook will be offered with a 24 hour notice. They will not be honored day of event.

We are one week away from our Santa Train event. Tickets are still going strong. This year trains will leave on a departure time with a set number of tickets available for each train. So if you got tickets already it is important to show up before your departure time. Otherwise we will have to schedule you for the next available train. We are sold out from 10:30 to 12:10. Todays the day. Ticket sales start at 5pm. A link will be posted here. Pick a day and time that’s available. We should have plenty of tickets for each day. In the chance on rain, we will run in light rain. If we have to cancel we can issue you a refund too. The dates are Dec 3+4 and 10+11. Departure times every ten minutes from 10:30-2:30.
Are you ready for the Santa Train! This year you will be buying preselected departure times. The train will take you to see and talk to Santa. And a digital download photo will be taken of your group on the train with Santa. Total train ride is 20 minutes. November 8 is the date to buy tickets. Your tickets will have your name on them so only buy through the link provided on November 8. $8 a person includes train ride and photo. 2 and under free
In an ongoing efforts to improve our special events, ticket reservations are recommended for this years Santa Train event. If sold out for the day then no walk ups. If we are not sold out then walk ups can purchase tickets for an available train that day.

Our Fall Meet has been one of the most attended in recent memory. We had 30 visiting steam engines and 16 diesel trains register. Plus many cars filling up most of the yards. Here is a walk around the steaming bays Saturday morning.

Our pumpkin train is this weekend Oct 1+2 from 11-3pm and we are looking forward to seeing you in our new layout for the event. Main entrance in lower parking lot. The club is replacing Hillview track section this off-season. This is the last of the main line remaining that is aluminum rail on wood ties. Once this is completed, all the main line will be steel rail on plastic ties. I went down today to build some track panels and my nephew showed up. Garret loves trains. He spent some time playing with the G gauge layout then I let him have a go on the hand car. He made three laps with it. Hopefully he burned enough energy to get his nap in. I doubt it. He would play at the train park all day if we let him. Workdays are planned for each Saturday til we open back up for the first week in March.
The annual Rancho Cordova Christmas Tree Lighting was a big hit tonight. Great to see everyone. We had fun running laps around the tree. The next two weekends is our Santa Train. Make plans to join this year Dec 4, 5, 11, and 12 from 11-3pm.

Today’s double heading cab forward action
The club picked up a really cool donation today. It’s a GP38 railroad supply diesel with engineer car and a gondola car. We also picked up several hundred feet of aluminum rail. The rail will come in handy to add another yard to our layout The engine has a control stand with air brakes and a electric bell. We need to do a few more things to it but we will have it running for May 1+2 run days. More photos in comments
