North Carolina National Guard Museum

North Carolina National Guard Museum This is the OFFICIAL page of the North Carolina National Guard Museum and Learning Center

The North Carolina National Guard Museum is currently in the final planning stages as we prepare to break ground and begin construction on a new building. When completed, this museum will serve as an educational and cultural resource where the public can learn about the history and heritage of North Carolina National Guard. The scope of the museum will reach back to its founding from the Carolina

Charter in 1663, through its contemporary duties as part of the National Guard system. The history of both the North Carolina Army National Guard and the North Carolina Air National Guard will be represented in this museum. The museum will be located near the campus of Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, at: 2109 Blue Ridge Road. In 2022, the NCNG worked with the NC Department of Agriculture and acquired land near the North Carolina Museum of Art. In fall 2023, the North Carolina General Assembly approved the budget and allocated funding to make a North Carolina National Guard Museum a reality. In preparation for the new museum building, the previous structure at the site was demolished in fall 2025. When completed, the museum will tell the story of the North Carolina National Guard through artifacts, archival documents, and interactive displays. The museum will also include a dedicated space designed for special programs. Such events may include author talks, guest lectures, veteran roundtable discussions, and other educational programming.

This summer, the 30th Infantry Division Association will host the 80th annual reunion of 30th Infantry Division. The North Carolina National Guard Museum recently rediscovered a small collection of programs from some of the first of these reunions.

Museum staff members are working hard to process these and other historical documents as we prepare the museum to open to the public.

It’s been a while, but we’re still here - and have been hard at work preparing to break ground and begin construction on a new museum. In the coming months, we’ll begin sharing a lot more regular updates here and across other social media channels, along with a few exciting announcements.

In the meantime, here is a look at the former museum site as stands today. This also is where the new museum will be built - place dedicated to preserving, commemorating, and sharing the history of the North Carolina’s National Guard.
