k to art fairs hoping it doesn't rain but would miss the interaction you have with customers and other artists, here's your opportunity. As a member your work will be displayed and sold in our gallery as well as other locations where we display our work. You pay a yearly membership fee and work at least six hours a month in the gallery. You'll also have plenty of opportunities to join committees that manage different aspects of the gallery. We have an open jury intake the first Sunday of each month. Bring a collection of your pieces down and our jury committee will take a look at them--it may take a couple of weeks. If you can't make the first Sunday of the month--other arrangements can be made. We're looking forward to seeing you!

Meet new member Donna Reierson.

Chicago born Donna Reierson is a graduate of the American Academy of Art in that city, majoring in illustration and fine art. She has done freelance murals and designs for restaurants and businesses around Chicago, photo retouching and illustrations for an ad agency, and, after taking years off to raise her family, became an art teacher. She taught art classes to children, including scratchboard lessons for libraries around Chicago, and adult and children’s classes at Blue Spider Art Studio, with instruction in drawing and painting in all mediums. She also taught children’s classes in photography.

Now retired and living in Racine, Donna has gotten back into oil painting while continuing with photography. “Most everything I do is about my love of nature. I find that nature is so healing for everything, no matter what the ailment is. In my oil paintings and photography, I just try to share the beauty and peace I am constantly seeing and feeling.”

An opening reception will be held for new members on First Friday, May 3rd, from 5-8pm. Stop in and meet Donna.

Meet new member Sam Margarette.
Sam started drawing as a youngster, later learning the basics of some textile techniques (including quilting, hand sewing, knitting, and crocheting), and art metals in high school. “The wide sampling and abundance of art class credits I took in college led me to an interdisciplinary concentration, and I graduated with a BFA.

Now, I cycle through the various media I work with, directed mostly by whimsy, curiosity, and what sounds most fun to play with at the time. Lately, my focus has been on paintings, fabric, and how I can combine them. My recent subjects have been figure and anatomy studies, and fanciful characters. Whether it's an entirely flat painting, or a mixed media piece, color and texture play a large role in my process. Either entirely visual, or physically tactile, I do my best to render or find the textures that best relate to a mood or idea I'm looking to convey.”

An opening reception will be held on First Friday, May 3rd 5-8pm. Stop in Friday evening to meet Sam.
