Pueblo County Historical Society

Pueblo County Historical Society Our mission is to bring together those people interested in history, especially the history of Pueblo County.

We operate a library with over 10,000 books and periodicals, 25,000 photographs & display historical items on site in the Pueblo Heritage Museum. Understanding the history of our community is basic to our democratic way of life, gives us a better understanding of our state and nation, and promotes a better appreciation of our American heritage.” We have over 650 paid members. Thursday June 11th we will be having our program at the Pueblo Heritage Museum, Heritage Room at 201 W. B Street, (June only). The doors will open at 5 P.M., Hors d’oeuvres & the program will begin at 6 P.M. Parking spaces are available in front of the Heritage Center or along B Street. Our June program will be “Part 2: Design and Construction of the Arkansas River Levee” by Larry Green. For reservations contact Larry Frank via e-mail ( [email protected] ) or via telephone (719-561-0619). Please make your reservations by Noon, Saturday June 6th.

The cost is $25.00 per person (June only) payable at the door. Persons who do not utilize their reservations will be billed $25.00.

Please join us here at the Pueblo County Historical Society & Heritage Museum on May 20, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM for another Heritage Night Lecture - Colorado Insane Asylum (1879-Present) by Nancy Hall! This lecture will highlight the various years the Colorado Insane Asylum was operating, the rapid switch of owners in the 1990s and causing a name change of the Institute, and some artifacts from the Colorado State Hospital Museum.

PCHS Members,

Thursday May 14th we will be having a dinner program at the Pueblo Union Depot at 132 B Street. The doors will open at 5 P.M., dinner will begin at 6 P.M. and the program will be at about 7 P.M. Parking spaces are available behind (railroad side) the building. Our May program will be “2026 Historic Preservation Awards”, which also includes the history of why each award is given.

For reservations contact Larry Frank via e-mail ([email protected]) or via telephone (719-561-0619). Please make your dinner reservations by Noon, Saturday May 9th.

The cost is $38.00 per meal payable at the door. Persons who do not utilize their reservations will be billed $38.00 per meal anyway.

No reservations will be accepted after May 9th and reservations are required for the dinner program! Also, cancellations must be made by May 11th otherwise you will be billed for the dinner.
