On this date, August 26, 1966 President Lyndon Johnson and First Lady Lady Bird Johnson made a visit to Pryor to dedicate the Mid-America Industrial Park. LBJ was the second sitting US President to visit Pryor, the first being Theodore Roosevelt in 1905. In 1974, to commemorate the event, the Oklahoma Legislature designated Highway 69A as the Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Highway and placed a marker and plaque on the northwest corner of South Elliott and Highway 69A.
