Home of the PDT, sponsored by Gather Wealth, a space honoring the history of Eagle Square & Fort Thunder, proud to be part of the growing Valley Arts District of PVD! Clubhouse Story

The Providence Drum Troupe Clubhouse Gallery is a creative space located in the rapidly growing Valley Arts District of Providence, Rhode Island. It serves as the home of the Providence Drum Troupe and is designed to

connect creative forces. It's an artist-run space that honors the history of Eagle Square and Fort Thunder. The building was formerly a tobacco distributor and has been converted into a modular, flexible space suitable for a variety of events, including performing arts, workshops, and community meetings. Their inaugural gallery show and permanent collection feature celebrated artists such as Bert Crenca, Susan Clausen, Derek Bernstein, David Lee Black, David A. Lang, and Erminio Pinque. You can find more information and potentially book the Clubhouse for events on their website: https://www.providencedrumtroupe.com/clubhouse

The Clubhouse is a world-class gallery and community events space on the edge of Federal Hill, Eagle Square, and the Valley Arts District in Providence, RI. It is also the home of the Providence Drum Troupe. The 7,000+ square foot space is shared with Gather Glass, a neighboring glass studio. It has a living room vibe and is used for a wide range of community events, including concerts, book clubs, healing arts workshops, band practice, artist talks, corporate retreats, and more. Before it was the Clubhouse, it was the home to the Coclin Tobacco company for decades. Matt Stone of GatherWealth Investment Management, Gather Farm, Gather Glass, and more purchased the space sight-unseen with a vision to turn it into a place for artists to create, assemble, and work. This draws on a long history of the neighborhood, which is well storied in the Secret Mall Apartment documentary. Eagle Square and the surrounding mills were long home to artists (both legally and illegally) who were making truly awesome work. When a developer saw the opportunity in the neighborhood, they razed some of the mills that were the central gathering point and turned it into a strip mall. We feel the Clubhouse is a return to the roots of the neighborhood, fostering artists to do what they do best. At the beginning of 2024, Matt Stone donated the space to the Providence Drum Troupe. Through a tremendous amount of sweat equity, we have turned it into what it is today. While still a work in progress, it is an important emerging part of our creative scene. Those that were founding fathers of the Providence art scene 40+ years ago have said it reminds them of the old days, where there was open space to create and connect in an unstructured but inspiring environment. Artists showing in the Clubhouse Gallery include Bert Crenca (Founder of AS220), Erminio Pinque (Founder of Big Nazo), David Lee Black (Founder of the Providence Drum Troupe), Derek Bernstein (international artist), David A. Lang (Boston Sculpture Gallery), David Allyn (prominent Providence artist), and many more.
