On Juneteenth, we reflect on the enduring pursuit of freedom, equality, and opportunity. Today, we share Douglas’ powerful painting “Building More Stately Mansions” (1944), which honors the labor, contributions, and aspirations of people of African descent.

Please note that the museum will be closed today, June 19.

The RISD art circle (RAC) is a group of local high school artists and art enthusiasts who explore and activate the museum’s galleries through a variety of projects and collaborations. Recently, the group has been visiting local galleries and experiencing new art together including - 

 exhibition, “PROV ALWAYS BEEN: The Receipts” at

solo exhibition “Felicia Megginson: Re-Framing Nature” at
