Painted plein air near Nabesna, AK in 2013. This small lake was named Twin Lakes back then but is now known as Kendesnii. The background is the Mentasta Range. We spent a wonderful solitary week camping, hiking, fishing, painting and writing here in early September of that year in the shadows of Wrangell-St. Elias.

"Sunset Sharpie" 18x24, oil on canvas. I based this painting on some bird work my setter Doc had on a sharp-tail here on our property. I glanced up to see Doc silhouetted against the sky pointing staunchly. I took two more steps and the sharpie burst from cover heading out across the basin that lay before us.
