✈️The Prairie du Chien Municipal Airport is one of the checkpoints for the Air Race Classic that starts in just a couple of weeks! Folks in the area will likely see an uptick in air traffic starting June 23. While some aircrafts will just be flying by, many pilots will be stopping and staying in the area overnight. If you would like to volunteer to shuttle them to their hotel, restaurants, etc. please call the Chamber at 608-326-8555 ext. 12.

During this time, one of our entrances is closed until August. If you're visiting us, please use the Backwater Bar & Grill entrance on Blackhawk Avenue to access the hotel.

We are excited to announce the kick-off for our second-annual Hiking Challenge on June 6th! After such a successful first hiking challenge in celebration of our 75th anniversary as a park last year, we’ve decided to do it again with new hikes!

2026 Hikes:
Twin Views Overlook (North Unit)
Compound Mound Group (South Unit)
Founder’s Pond (Heritage Addition)

😎Join us on June 6th for National Trails Day for ranger-guided hikes on each of the trails!

☀️Twin Views Overlook at 9:00am starting from the visitor center. This hike climbs 350 feet and is 3 miles round-trip.

🥾Compound Mound Group at 1:00pm starting from the Day-Use lot at the South Unit. This hike is four miles round-trip and climbs 350 feet. Please note the first part of the hike climbs steeply on loose rock.

👟Founder’s Pond at 3:00pm starting from the visitor center. This hike is two miles and climbs 50 feet.
