New graphite drawing of the tide's edge.

Wabi Sabi is a term for images of small details that can give the impression of abstractions. This drawing was done recently from a photo session with Nolan Bateman about three years ago in which we took photographs of details along the beach at Curtis Cove in East Blue Hill. It is meticulously detailed and took somewhere between 50 and 75 hours, maybe more (it was done in increments, and I did not keep track of the time.)

A gifted artist and art instructor, Pat Chandler’s career as a commercial and fine artist spans more than five decades. She received her BFA in illustration from Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI and MFA in painting and printmaking from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY.
