The opening reception for this amazing collaboration with our friends at North Pole Studio is on November 5th, 5-8pm at Imperfecta Gallery - 809 NW Flanders St.

[If you are lucky, you might be able to get a sneak preview of the puppet show scheduled for November 13!]

The same night we also debut Diane Archer 's Ordinary Magic as well as our holiday extravaganza - Rockin' Around.

To kick start the holiday season, we'll also have live acoustic music by Sol Dahms-Wildenboer

Are you ready to experience Ordinary Magic by Portland artist Diane Archer?

Here are a few tiny sneak preview details from this solo show that promises to enchant you with kindness, beauty, wonder and nature's serenity.

By combining maps, images, natural elements, found objects, and personal relics, Diane created meaningful, layered mixed-media assemblages. Feathers, seeds, flowers, bones, stones and household objects become visual representations of moments in time and particular spaces, along with the epiphanies that result.

Ordinary Magic is a state of mind; a sense of wonder. The ordinary is extraordinary if we take the time to look closely and with curiosity. A nest, rose, snail shell or handful of acorns can be talismans that tell stories or invoke memories. A collection of objects can become a kind of personal map of a place, person or time.

This marvelous show opens on November 5th at the Imperfecta Gallery, with an opening reception 5-8pm that will include a live performance by Sol Dahms-Wildenboer

Thanks to Lilliana Watkins and Oregon ArtsWatch for featuring our current installation, "As Above so below" by Jacqueline Myers-Cho and Patricia Anders, in the context of Imperfecta's participation to Portland Textile Month.

This is the second year that Imperfecta Gallery is proudly part of PTXM -- while last year our contribution was minimal as our old gallery space was very petite, this round we participated with an art installation as well as display and a talk focused on southeast Asian textiles from the Martha Banyas collection.

PTXM brings to our wonderful city a plethora of fantastic events and opportunities to get up close and personal with the marvelous world of fiber and textile art and craft.

Thanks to the PTXM team for their hard work and to Caleb + Textile Hive for their dedication to textile art and preservation.

I am so excited to start the holiday season by opening our holiday extravaganza, Rockin' Around!

Prepare yourself for a world of color, light, joy, festive atmosphere and many wonderful art ornaments created by local and international artists for the lucky ones that will get to adopt them.

This will be a cash & carry (or ship!) event, meaning that you'll get to take home your adopted pieces immediately upon adoption!

Pieces are arriving at the gallery and they are fabulous!!!

Thank you to the many that joined us yesterday for "Mapping the Cloth" with author Michael Hoeye and professor Sonja Dahl - it was such an amazing duo talk, filled with heart, knowledge, memories and impeccable storytelling. What a treat!!!!

What a fantastic way to celebrate the life and work of artist Martha Banyas while learning about textiles, dyeing techniques and cultures from Southeast Asia.

I am extremely grateful for the presenters as well as our friends at Textile Hive and Portland Textile Month for the support and presence.
