We are a launchpad for artists, providing gallery representation, a platform for showcasing artworks, curated exhibitions, & innovative arts-focused programs. Welcome to Well Well Projects, situated in the Kenton neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. Functioning as an artist-member gallery, we exhibit contemporary art and support…artists. Our core mission is to act as a launchpad for artists, providing gallery representation, a platform for showcasing artworks, curated exhibitions, and innovative arts-focused programming. We are a vibrant hub for artists and visitors in the Pacific Northwest and extend our reach beyond the region through open calls and diverse exhibition opportunities. Central to our values is the establishment of an inclusive culture that upholds the rights, safety, dignity, and worth of every individual. Our commitment is to create a space that challenges systemic inequalities such as racism, transphobia, heterosexism, ableism, sexism, classism, and other forms of discrimination. Meet our Directors: John Whitten, Morgan Rosskopf, and Katherine Spinella, guiding the vision and direction of Well Well Projects. Together, we cultivate an environment that nurtures and supports the growth of artists we exhibit and represent. Join us on the first Saturday of every month from 5 to 8 pm for the opening receptions of new exhibitions. Our gallery is open to visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 5 pm. Established in January 2021, Well Well Projects was founded by Jeremy Le Grand, Katherine Spinella, Jessie Le Grand, and John Whitten. Meet our member artists on our website.

π™π™šπ™£π™™π™žπ™£π™œ 𝙩𝙀 π™’π™žπ™‘π™™ is a continued exploration of the human relationship to plant life - from ignorance to desire. Through painting and sculpture, Claire Elliott considers the folkloric allure of ripe fruits and potent seed, the labors of the gardener, and the cunning stealth of the forager. Recognizing the garden as a site of transformation and mystery, she looks for moments when plants surprise and enchant. The fictional projection of an orderly nature - forever flowering and devoid of dead leaves - has made us less curious about the plants that surround us. The work in Tending to Wild seeks the thrill that ripeness and seasonal abundance can provoke.

π™Žπ™₯π™‘π™žπ™© π™Žπ™π™žπ™›π™©π™¨ is an interdisciplinary exhibition of works honoring grief and labor - manual, artistic, and maternal. Artist Catherine Reinhart encrusts, mends, and adorns abandoned textiles, creating modern relics from work gloves and domestic textiles. Haunting the borderlands of construction sites, vacant lots, and disheveled bedrooms, she explores thresholds to the unmonumental. By holding the damage in the mends, these objects become records of care and an archive of repetition.

π™Žπ™₯π™‘π™žπ™© π™Žπ™π™žπ™›π™©π™¨ refers to labor: manual, maternal, and artistic. It also references typical shift work, which occurs in disparate chunks outside of the 9-to-5. Similarly, this work of an artist and caregiver falls outside of operating hours, in the margins of life. Of artistic and maternal labor, the artist is accustomed. These physical adorations of manual labor are an expansion of these themes.

This margin work is often invisible and underpaid. In the case of motherhood, it is not compensated at all. This work is iterative and full of care. Rubbings of graves marked β€˜mother’, mending, beading, and stitching parallel these humane actions. This exhibition both adorns and mourns these uncelebrated efforts.

The gallery is transformed this month by Jessie Rose Vala into a theater of installation. Bathed in blue, the ceramic and video narratives entangle climate change, pop-esoteric imagery, and mythic vessels.

A new exhibition cycle, four new members, and a fresh round of figuring it out together.

π™ˆπ™žπ™œπ™π™© 𝙖𝙨 π™’π™šπ™‘π™‘ π™’π™šπ™‘π™‘ brings together the artists of Well Well Projects for a collective exhibition that celebrates the people who make this space possible. The title is equal parts shrug, rallying cry, and statement of intent. If we’re going to do this, we might as well do it well.

The work on view spans a wide range of mediums, ideas, and approaches. There is no single theme holding it all together beyond a cohort of artists who chose to share space, support one another, and contribute to the community of an artist-run gallery.

This exhibition is a snapshot of the collective as it exists right now: showing up curious and ambitious to embrace this chaotic adventure.
