Porterville Historical Museum Come check out the history of the local areas! Exhibit room changes every 6-8 weeks, annual train show runs starting in December!

Porterville Historical Museum was opened in 1965 as a direct result of the interest spurred by Porterville's centennial. Through diligent effors of residents, Southern Pacific Railroad gave the city permission to operate a museum on the site of the now 1913 passenger station, and we've been open to the public ever since. A Few of our Exhibits include: The Frank "Buck" Shaffer display, which includ

es a brief timeline of his achievements while in Porterville as well as memorabilia from his life here including a Letter from Walt Disney, and in our entrance hall we include an exhibit on Native American Weaving (ie. Baskets, Bowls, and tools)

Our current Admission Prices are:
$5 for Adults
$1 for Children And Students (on Assignments)
Free For Children Under Six

Today we pause to honor the brave men and women from our city who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Their courage and dedication helped shape the freedoms we cherish today.

At the Porterville Historical Museum, we are proud to preserve their stories through our veterans' exhibits, letters from the front, and artifacts that bring their service to life.

🌺 December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy.

On this , we pause with us to honor the 2,403 Americans who lost their lives and the 1,178 who were wounded when the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Oʻahu, was attacked 84 years ago today.

Their sacrifice propelled our nation into World War II and shaped the course of history. From the sunken USS Arizona, still resting beneath these waters as a solemn memorial, to the survivors whose stories of courage continue to inspire—we remember them all.
