The Port St. Lucie Historical Society’s first annual historical event was a tremendous success! We are grateful to everyone who brought our local history to life by portraying some of the people who helped shape our community. St. Lucie County Commissioner James Clasby portrayed rancher Oliver (O.L.) Peacock, while Port St. Lucie City Council candidate Rick Meltzer portrayed Governor Dan McCarty. Rachel Field-Heid, great-granddaughter of Burt Pruitt, and her husband, Mark, portrayed Mr. and Mrs. Burt Pruitt. Rick Sciescente, a direct descendant of John Enos Fultz, and his wife, Lisa, portrayed Mr. and Mrs. Fultz. Niles Graben portrayed Gardner (Mike) Cowles, and Dennis Grabhorn, John Greenfield, and D. Graben portrayed the Mackle Brothers.
A special thank-you goes to Port St. Lucie Vice Mayor Jolien Caraballo, Deanne Davis, Lynn Ganster, Marty Zientz, Wade Willnow, and the other dedicated guides who helped make the experience memorable. Joanie Alexander delighted guests as our ghostly host, while the St. Lucie River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) graciously managed the check-in tent. Thank you to all our participants, volunteers, and ticket holders for making this inaugural event such a success! Your enthusiasm and support help fund the Port St. Lucie History Museum and Education Center, preserving our community’s rich heritage and sharing it with future generations.
