total $1,099.50 $476.08 $623.42
4th of July
net profit of $1499.99. Last year we made $2231.21. The majority of the reduction is mostly because of the heavy rains during prime beer selling time! Also, since we didn't sell soda this year, we had less profit.
Beer bill this year: $606.62
Beer bill last year: $815.12
Fall Concert Series: There will be 5 concerts this fall: 8/17, 8/31, 9/14, 9/28, 10/5.
Volunteers will be needed for beverage and popcorn sales. Tom and
Mary are stepping down after heading this effort for over two years!
Thank you Mary and Tom!!
Church Restoration: We have received the quote from Beek:
The contract will be handled through the town.
1. exterior: $9,000 (includes supplies)
2. roof: $6,500
3. interior: $1,800 14 windows...$110/window
$20/sash
4. rear door:$600
After much discussion a motion was moved and seconded to move forward with
#1 and #4. Phil will ask Beek whether or not the roof should be a priority.
Joe noted that the light fixture on the front porch and the interior window locks need to be
replaced.
Dues/Membership: Judy gave a heartfelt talk about why it is important to continue our mission and work on increasing membership. We will need to have a brainstorming meeting. Judy is willing to head The Membership Committee. Mary offered to be on the committee.
Docent: Discussion was held on how to provide/recruit a new docent for the museum.
A suggestion was made to perhaps increase the rent for the church---there has been no increase for several years. Leila stated that she would be glad to help the new docent become
acquainted with the museum and its treasures.
Windows: Discussion was held as to whether we need to have an HPRF window.
Sold as of today: Full window: 6
1/4 window: 1 ($250)
single pane: 1 ($100)
Inscriptions need to be put on the plaques for the sold windows.
Port Royal Elementary School: The school is seeking our support in placing the school
on the National Historical List; they have submitted an application. We need to have The School Board committed to this project before we agree. The cost to HPRF will be $2400.
Cemetery off Hillcrest Court: Mary and Phil explained that there is a group trying to have this cemetery placed on the National Historical Registry of Places. Samuel Smalls will be coming to our September meeting to speak with us and give us more information.
Map: They are ready to be distributed. HPRF will have some financial obligation. The amount will be forthcoming.
Election of Officers: Judy will head the Nominating Committee, Anna will help her; they will meet next week. Elections will be held at our September meeting. Mary will send the list of members to Phil.
Port Royal Sticker/Decal: These will be used as a fund raiser for HPRF, they will be for sale at the Street Concerts as soon as they are available. The cost to us: $2.00 each, $1.75/200,
and $1.50/300
