The Long Island Explorium encourages visitors to explore and play together in our hands-on interactive maker space rich with science/ STEM based exhibits and activities. While our focus is children ages 2-12 and their caregivers, we welcome visitors of all ages. The Long Island Explorium was launched in 2004 as “The Children’s Maritime Museum at Port Jefferson” (CMM) by a group of local residents seeking a family-friendly educational experience.

Meet the Makers: KaidoTrainer

One of the reasons the Long Island Explorium is proud to produce Maker Faire Long Island is that it brings experiences like this to our community.

KaidoTrainer turns electronics into an adventure. It is a handheld game console with a breadboard built right into the gamepad, so kids can build real circuits using resistors, LEDs, and logic gates while the game responds to what they create.

It is hands-on, creative, beginner-friendly, and a great example of the kind of playful STEM learning we care so much about.

Ages 8+, no electronics experience needed.

The Long Island Explorium is proud to produce Maker Faire Long Island, and Saber Guild Endor Temple is one of the groups helping bring Galactic Makers Alley to life this year. Their immersive costuming, lightsaber performances, and family-friendly moments add a lot of visual energy to the day.

This is one of those experiences that helps make the Faire feel memorable for visitors of all ages.
