Our annual Teamwork and Timbers project is fast approaching. This project teaches the skill of timber framing and teamwork. Boys and girls ages 9-12 are welcome to participate. The class is limited to the first 20 children registering. Please contact Rose Putnam at 989-444-9574 to get the registration forms.

It was another good day at the Lumberyard Museum. Most items can be touched and felt, cranked and turned. In that sense, this really is a hands-on repository of Thumb history.

Open every Saturday 1-4pm through September.

The PHAHS Port Hope Barn Quilt committee sent a contingent there today, and jumped in to help. By all reports, it was a good day.

This traveling display was created through a grant by the Sanilac County Historical Society. It’s at Harbor Beach’s Frank Murphy Museum through Sunday.

If you miss it there, you can see it at the Lumberyard Museum during Port Hope’s ABC Day Aug. 15.

One atypical thing visitors to the Lumberyard Museum seem to appreciate is that it’s a work in progress. They don’t mind sawdust on the floor, unfinished displays, hammers sitting out, and so on.

It’s a living museum. Even when our volunteers aren’t working, you can see where they’ve been.

Lumberyard hours: Saturdays, 1-4pm.
