Are you a Marine? Do you know a Marine? Have you thanked a Marine lately? This week’s hero is the most decorated Marine in American history. Sometimes heroes go their whole lives quietly, unrecognized, and sometimes we get it right and tell them how wonderful they are while they are still with us. All you heroes out there; recognized or in the shadows; we thank and remember you.

Take some time to remember. Send a letter to a service member or hero in your life. Or spend some time visiting a veteran memorial like the ones at the Miracle of America Museum, Polson Montana.

MAIL CALL!! Did you know July hosts National Postal Worker Day? This inspiring story of heroes during WWII truly shows the American spirit. The women of 6888 faced discrimination on two fronts, as black women in a segregated military. They heroically answered the call to serve and worked around the clock in terrible conditions to clear the mail backlog for American soldiers that had piled up in England and later France. When you’re a homesick soldier, hearing from a loved one can be the difference between hope and despair.

Postal workers, quiet heroes who lift the hearts of our citizens, and the women of 6888, we remember you.

At the Miracle of America Museum, Polson Montana we have a vintage post office and artifacts from military postal workers including dreaded telegrams reporting fallen soldiers. Come visit us from 9-5 daily.

The story of the Berlin Wall is pivotal to the story of the Miracle of America Museum. The stark contrast between freedom and the slavery of communism inspired our founder, Gil Mangels, many years ago. We celebrate liberty and are inspired by those heroes who help others reach freedom!

Come see our special independence display, or pieces from the original Berlin Wall.

Join us for Live History Days July 18th and 19th. Concessions, rides, live music, demonstrations, army vehicles and more! Open from 9-5 all year long!

Dear Friends of the Museum,

The America 250 event is to celebrate and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking America’s Semiquincentennial. Their aim is to inspire Americans to reflect on their past, strengthen their love of country, and renew their commitment to the ideals of democracy through programs that educate, engage, and unite us as a nation.

The Miracle of America Museum was begun in 1984 and received its 501C3 status in 1986. Its real beginnings started about 40 yrs. before, when founder Gil Mangels started collecting almost anything old. Collections of arrowheads, stamps, guns, horse drawn vehicles, later, old cars and tractors, etc. It has grown to be the largest and most diversified display of antiques, artifacts, and memorabilia in Montana. However, as you know, it is more than just a collection; it is actually a story that traces American history from the walking plow to walking on the moon and beyond. A statement borrowed from Antiques Roadshow, “It's not about the things we have, it's the memories we make with them” would certainly apply here.

We invite you to contemplate how you can celebrate America's birthday and hope you will stop by and see how things have changed in the past 250 years!
