Today, The Restorative Power of Place officially launches.

This book brings together much of the thinking behind the work I do through Sanctuary Services: strategy, design, hospitality, wellness, and the way the built and natural environment can influence how people feel.

For me, restorative hospitality is not about adding a spa, a cold plunge, or a wellness menu to a property and calling it done. It is about looking at the entire experience as a system.

The lighting. The acoustics. The materials. The landscape. The food. The air quality. The guest flow. The staff experience. The connection to nature. The sense of safety. The places where people gather, rest, recover, and reconnect.

That is the work I care most about: helping owners, operators, and developers create places that are not only beautiful, but coherent with the experience they are promising.

The Restorative Power of Place introduces the ideas behind that approach and The Sanctuary Method.

I’m excited to finally have it out in the world.

One of the principles behind my work with entrepreneurs at Sanctuary Services is simple: don’t build the overhead before the business has finished becoming itself.

Especially in the early years, a company may go through several versions before the right customer, offer and niche become clear. That is why I tend to recommend staying lean—using existing tools before building custom systems, exhausting organic marketing before paying for ads, using AI where it can reduce unnecessary labor, bringing in a VA for repeatable ex*****on, and paying experienced professionals for the moments where their judgment actually matters.

The goal isn’t to avoid spending money. It’s to spend it at the right stage, on the right problem, and at the right level of expertise.

I wrote more about how I approach lean entrepreneurship here:

A guy on the job site taught me a new term today: **“male blindness.”**

He walked into the tool room after I had cleaned and organized it, looked around, and said, “My wife calls it male blindness.”

It made me laugh, but it also made something click.

The ability to notice disorder, anticipate what is needed, create systems, and bring an environment back into order is often treated as fussiness when it happens in a home.

In business, we call those same skills **operations, project management, systems thinking, and strategy**.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that organizing a tool room and helping a business owner organize a company are remarkably similar. In both cases, someone has to step outside the immediate work, see what everyone else has stopped noticing, and create a better system.

That’s essentially what I do.

I grew up as the daughter of a swimming-pool and spa builder. By twelve, I was working in our family pool store, testing thousands of samples of pool and spa water and learning exactly what it takes to keep heated, recirculating water looking clean.

My dad understood that chemistry better than almost anyone I knew.

He would never get into a public whirlpool bath.

This Substack essay looks at why whirlpool baths should not be treated as wellness amenities, what is actually required to maintain that water, and the profound difference between chemically managed spa water and natural bodies of water.

The ocean, lakes, rivers and hot springs offer something entirely different: movement, minerals, grounding, fresh air, landscape and direct contact with the earth.

The whirlpool bath is not the medicine.

It is the imitation.

Tomorrow I fly home from Sweden, but I am not returning as the same person who arrived.

This trip began working on me before I ever left. Somewhere between the farms, forests, trains, unexpected detours and long stretches of solitude, I found the language for the work I believe I am here to do.

I just shared the full story on Substack—how Sweden became less of a trip and more of a month-long ceremony, and how it led me more deeply into restorative hospitality, transformational travel and Sanctuary Found.

Sometimes the message is simply: go.

The understanding comes later.

Small business owners are often expected to be the strategist, operations manager, marketing director, technology lead, and problem-solver—all at once.

That is where an experienced outside perspective can make a real difference.

I often feel where the strain is before I see it on paper: a complicated software stack, unclear workflow, rising costs, a personnel issue, a confusing customer experience, or an owner carrying far too much alone.

My latest blog post explains how I combine intuition, experience, and practical strategy to help small business owners identify the real issue—not just the visible symptom.

I have been reflecting on what I actually offer small business owners.Over the years, I have stepped into hospitality businesses, real estate offices, software-heavy operations, construction projects, service businesses, and growing owner-led companies facing very different challenges. On the surface...

A home can support healing — or it can quietly add stress to an already overwhelmed body.

I just published a new blog post exploring the connection between **mold, terrain theory, chronic symptoms, and the toxicity of modern building materials**.

For years, I’ve been noticing that mold issues often seem more complex than “mold exposure” alone. The type of building matters. The materials matter. The air quality, moisture, ventilation, chemical load, and overall condition of the home all matter.

Modern homes are often filled with synthetic materials — manufactured wood products, glues, plastics, chemical paints, insulation, flame retardants, artificial fragrances, and sealed air systems. When moisture enters that kind of environment, the mold may not be the whole problem. It may be a messenger showing us that the environment has become stagnant, toxic, or out of balance.

The body has a terrain too.

Two people can live in the same home and respond very differently. One person may feel fine, while another experiences fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, anxiety, respiratory irritation, or other chronic symptoms.

This is why I believe healing has to include both the body and the environment.

Clean air. Natural materials. Nourishing food. Nervous system regulation. Sunlight. Movement. Emotional resolution. Simplicity. Less toxicity. More life.

This post was inspired by a powerful conversation with Alec Zeck, Liev Dalton, and Jacob Diaz on terrain theory, German New Medicine, and chronic illness.

Something I’ve been thinking about:

Your business has an environment.

Not just a brand or a website or a social media presence — but an actual field that your nervous system is responding to.

The messy desk.
The unfinished website updates.
The unclear offer.
The inbox you avoid.
The social media strategy that lives only in your head.
The files, ideas, notes, and projects scattered everywhere.
The branding that no longer feels like you.

All of it communicates something.

Sometimes the reason we feel stuck in business is not because we lack discipline or vision.

Sometimes the environment around the business is creating too much friction.

Too many open loops.
Too many unfinished pieces.
Too many decisions waiting to be made.
Too much clutter between the idea and the action.

This is why I care so much about restoration.

When we clean up the environment around the business — the workspace, the messaging, the website, the systems, the rhythm — the nervous system often settles.

And from that place, clarity comes back.

You can see what matters.
You can feel the next step.
You can move again.

Sometimes momentum does not come from pushing harder.

Sometimes it comes from removing the friction.

**Building a Business That Honors the Female Nervous System**

So many women are trying to build businesses from pressure, urgency, burnout, and nervous system overwhelm.

We are taught to push harder, stay visible at all costs, be consistent like machines, and override the natural rhythms of the body.

But women are not machines.

A woman’s business is not separate from her body, her home, her energy, her creativity, her capacity, or her nervous system.

This blog is about a different way of building — one that honors women’s biology, natural rhythm, nervous system regulation, and aligned growth while still creating clarity, structure, strategy, and momentum.

Through Sanctuary Services, I support women in looking at the whole landscape:

• the home
• the workspace
• the website
• the messaging
• the routines
• the unfinished projects
• the systems
• the nervous system underneath it all

Because sometimes the next business breakthrough does not come from doing more.

Sometimes it comes from removing what is keeping you in stress.

I also included a link in the post to my book, **Less: How the Nervous System Heals**, for anyone who wants to go deeper into the nervous system foundation behind this work.

New on the Sanctuary Services blog:

**From Chaos to Momentum: A Business Reset Case Study**

Sanctuary Services is often thought of as home support — organizing, clearing, simplifying, restoring rhythm, and creating spaces that feel peaceful and functional.

But businesses have environments too.

A business can become cluttered.
A business can lose flow.
A business can carry unfinished pieces, unclear messaging, scattered priorities, and momentum that has quietly stalled.

In this case study, I share how Sanctuary Services helped restore clarity and movement through a complete business reset — including a rebrand, new logo, website redesign, clearer messaging, social media strategy, Facebook group outreach, and email list reactivation.

This work is not just about making a business look better.

It is about helping the outside finally match the essence of the work inside.
