The Gallery at 409 is a non-profit, 501c3 art gallery/museum established in July 2008 to revitalize the arts culture in Mason County, West Virginia and surrounding communities. The Gallery showcases artistic talent in the river valley region by having a venue where local artists can exhibit their work. The Gallery offers workshops and classes in various types of mediums to the public, working in c
onjunction with local schools to enhance art education and has the goal of making art collections and services accessible for the inspiration, learning and enjoyment of all while providing educational opportunity for youth who otherwise may not get stimulating exposure to the arts. The Gallery museum houses one of the largest collections of Philippe Smit paintings outside of Bryn Athyn, PA., on loan from the Theodore Pitcairn Endowment. The Gallery at 409 not only encourages the appreciation of arts within the community, it also adds to tourism destinations and participates in economic development by enhancing the River Museum, Tu-Endie-Wei, the W.Va. State Farm Museum nearby, and murals depicting the area’s history on our river flood walls by a world renowned artist.
