This was a service station at the earlier BETO Junction (Old Highways 75 and 50), prior to the new US-75 being built. Looking around online, I saw a post that said the original BETO was in Lyndon - there was a well in the center of town with four roads leading away from it: Burlington Ave., Emporia Ave., Topeka Ave., Ottawa Ave. - BETO. Lyndon is in Osage County, Kansas; this building is Coffey County.

This 1939 photograph from the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture captures a quiet Harlem moment, as Edward Jones escorts Pat Roberts and Edna Dean home after church. Preserved in the Children collection, spanning the 1900s–1990s, it reflects everyday life, community, and care among African American children, with many images rooted in the vibrant streets of Harlem. Its photographer remains unknown today to us all.
