Come visit us at our next public event as we join Goodguys Rod & Custom for the 2026 West Coast Nationals Car Show! We will be open all three days during show hours and are a free exhibit with show admission (donations appreciated)!

This past Friday, our members got together for our annual summer BBQ. As part of this yearly tradition, the trainmasters, Dick Stark (O Scale) and Leiko Vaher (HO Scale) presented the Trainmaster Awards and club president Gary Lewis and vice president Phil Edholm did a great job as always grilling tri-tip and hamburgers.
Additionally, three members, J.R. Anderson and Jamie West (HO Scale) and Larry Brickell (O Scale), also put some of their own money together and presented Gary with an HO Scale Santa Fe locomotive with a plaque on it in memory of his brother, long time HO member Dean Lewis, who sadly passed away not long before this event.

We were excited to host some out-of-town visitors on our HO layout during the Alameda County Fair! Thomas and Toby all the way from the Island of Sodor and LS2004, the famous locomotive from “Grand Theft Auto V”, visiting from Los Santos!

Many visitors during our open houses, especially during fair season, always ask us if the trains ever get into wrecks (or if we can make a wreck happen for them).
Can we intentionally make a wreck happen, unfortunately no as our members’ equipment can be very expensive. That said, do wrecks happen by accident from time to time? Like on a real railroad, yes.
And as these photos suggest, like in the real world, accidents can and have been everything from a locomotive derailing on a switch to a multi-car pileup. And by the way, none of these accidents were staged.

Our biggest open house of the year, the 2026 Alameda County Fair, is less than two weeks away, June 19th-July 12th! So stop by during your fair visit and see all of our best HO and O Scale model trains in action and don’t forget to tag us in your social media posts (Alameda County Central Railroad Society here on Facebook and on Instagram)!
We are open every day of the fair and are a free exhibit with fair admission, but donations are always appreciated to help keep our layouts running!
