Ray Colosky creates ephemeral sculptures using refrigeration, ambient humidity, and Freon gas to form layers of ice on copper tubing. The works move through the three states of matter—gas, solid, and liquid—as the ice forms, melts, and rains down. His work explores transformation, geology, time, and the conditions that shape matter. Influenced by Minimalism, his sculptures emphasize industrial processes, geometric forms, and materiality. The slow, meditative process invites viewers to contemplate nature, change, and the temporary nature of existence.
