“𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑨𝒔 𝑫𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒅”
Colosky’s new blue and white paintings present layered landscapes that combine historical
visual traditions with a suspect look towards what coming. The compositions feature floral motifs, drifting clouds, islands, and seascapes alongside dystopic elements like surveillance
cameras, cell towers, military hardware, and balloon-era technologies. These incongruent
combinations build a world where ornamental beauty, technological presence, and visual history
coexist in strange quiet tension. Drawing on the aesthetics of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain,
Delft ceramics, and Japanese ukiyo-e Floating World composition, each painting is composed in
a restrained two-color palette. The scenes are rendered using acrylic on canvas, with a
combination of brushwork, airbrush, and laser-cut stencils. The resulting surfaces balance
precision, softness, structure, and atmosphere. This work is an exploration of the power of
imagery to transcend borders and time, creating a space where past and present can
communicate and coexist.
