Mark your calendars for a fun, interactive presentation - the HISTORY OF FOXHUNTING (Chasing!)-- on SEPT 14 - 7:00 PM (First Christian Church, Platte City) Here's a sneak preview of only a few fun anecdotes as told by our presenter Lt. Col Rob Kornacki - Much more to hear & see if you can attend: Per Rob, "General Henry Mitchell with Lieutenant Colonel George S. Patton, Jr. on the right... mid-1930s. Patton had earlier led the US Cavalry School foxhunt at Fort Riley …. Yes, Patton had a meteoric rise in rank from Lt. Col. to four star general by WW II's end. But boss Eisenhower's rise was even more impressive! From Lt. Col. when WW II started in Europe to 5 star (!) general well-before war's end in 1945. Was IKE also a foxhunter/horseman? No. He once remarked of the twice weekly riding requirement of the Army staff college at Fort Leavenworth in the 1920s as "the penance of many an officer".

Pic#2 - Then Major General (2 star) Gordon Sullivan hosting a foxhunt ca 1990 at Fort Riley, Kansas when/where he was the commanding general. The Cavalry School foxhunt was long gone... but never forgotten... especially by General Sullivan as a cavalry/armor officer. General Sullivan went on to earn four stars and position as Chief of Staff of the United States Army, the most senior officer in the service. See what fox hunting can do for you!!" Thanks Rob for this preview! Hope to See you on SAT 14th !! -- RSVP appreciated for planning refreshments- Lisa 816-304-1627

Be sure not to miss SEPT. 14, Sat. Eve 7:00 pm presentation at First Christian Church, Platte City (sponsored by PCHS/ Ben Ferrel Museum) Presenter is Rob Kornacki on History of Foxhunting AND meet BLUESKIN -- the horse in this picture! See more below from Rob. ..

If you are available on September 14, come to the foxhunting historical presentation and beforehand meet Blueskin outside the First Christian Church. I named her after the favorite mount of a reasonably famous American who also lived and loved foxhunting. Blue, will be tacked up in the traditional foxhunting manner (you know, sissy English saddle, etc.). Here she is several years ago standing near what we call the Tree of Patience...for with some virtues one is born...while others must be learned. See you there!! Rob
