Join us at Plainville's 250th Celebration tomorrow, 10-4 PM, at Robertson Airport. Lots to see and do, including our Historical Society booth. In addition to items from our collection, we will have the original 1874 Broad Street School bell! Our neighbors at the event will be the History Without Walls group with Revolutionary War displays, including a replica cannon. Hope to see you!

On a winter night in 1896, a train left Plainville bound for Bristol - but disaster was waiting on the Pequabuck River. Come hear presenter Rit Carter from Bristol share the long-forgotten stories of survival and loss after a railroad bridge collapse. Although the accident was in Bristol, Rit will also share the Plainville connections. See details and registration info below.

We wanted to share the following regarding postponement of the Plainville's 250th celebration that was planned for this weekend:

The Plainville 250 Celebration Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone Saturday’s scheduled outdoor celebrations due to the forecasted severe weather, including strong winds and rain.
The safety of our performers, vendors, crafters, participants, and community members is our top priority.
The committee will meet in the coming days to determine a new date for the celebration, and all participants will be notified once that date is confirmed.

The "American spirit of adventure" is the theme for Episode 3 of Plainville: The American Experience. The series is a joint project of our local America 250th Committee, Historical Society, and town staff. We explore how the events and currents of America's past were reflected in the life and times of Plainville. This episode was especially fun to create - we hope you enjoy it!
