The Buhl Planetarium and Museum of Popular Science opened on Pittsburgh's North Shore in 1939, and then merged with the Carnegie Museums in 1991. Since then, our programs have helped educate the southwestern region of Pennsylvania about the incredible universe we all inhabit. Using full dome digital technology, we are able to give visitors a unique and immersive view of the cosmos around us. The B

uhl Observatory is a 10 foot dome located on the rooftop at Carnegie Science Center housing a 16-inch Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. It is used in our public SkyWatch sessions to observe stars, planets, nebulae and more!
