This project was initiated in 1991 to recognize and honor "mature local artists whose work has shown excellence, is still challenging and has had an influence on the visual arts in the Western Pennsylvania area." Past exhibitions held in 1991, 1993, 1996, 1998 and 2005 have included Henry Koerner, Thaddeus Mosley, Clyde Hare, Aaronel de Roy Gruber, Robert Qualters, Jane Haskell, Kathleen Zimbicki,

Adrienne Heinrich and Donna Hollen Bolmgren. A total of 50 artists have been honored, and video interviews will be recorded and archived at the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History Center. Past videos are available for viewing at the Heinz History Center.
