On September 19, Assemble is throwing Unicorn Palooza, a one-of-a-kind celebration of Assemble's 15 years of creativity, play, and community, and we’re looking for local creatives to help make the night magical. We’re remixing classic carnival games into opportunities for guests to discover something new. We’re looking for local artists, makers, creatives, and technologists to help us make it happen. We’d love for you to be part of it!

Donate a maker experience, art or swag: https://forms.gle/sshZrauLRWeVRi7v7

It’s a chance to support the next generation of creators while sharing your own creativity with a new audience. Your participation helps fuel Assemble’s hands-on arts and technology education and gives guests an opportunity to discover the artists, makers, and creative talent that make Pittsburgh so special! In 2025 alone, Assemble served 4,629 people, including 2,063 youth and their families, through STEAM programs that build creativity, confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.

PS. BOOM Concepts is a sponsor of the event and our very own D.S Kinsel will be hosting the Unicorn Palooza event! We hope to see you there.

Last Thursday we kicked off our 1st of 3 BOOM_Concepts Field Trips for the Carnegie Prize Club which connects attendees with curators and artists participating in the CMOA Carnegie International.

Associate Curator, Ryan Inouye, led the tour through the exhibition delivering information about how the curators chose artists, backgrounds in who they were and specials notes about the work on display. Having drinks and listening to DJ’s during the pvkvsv led Inside Out was a plus!

The Long Walk, an exhibition by DS Kinsel
Frick Environmental Center
2005 Beechwood Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

On view now until September 26, 2026

The Long Walk is a collection of encaustic landscape paintings on glass block that explores humanity’s enduring relationship with nature, memory and stillness. Inspired by long walks through Pittsburgh’s Frick Park, the exhibition examines the quiet spaces that exist beyond the pace and noise of everyday life. The works depict imagined fields, meadows and rolling landscapes that hover between observation and memory. Rather than documenting specific locations, Kinsel creates environments shaped by reflection, solitude and emotional resonance.

DS Kinsel is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, cultural producer, and creative entrepreneur based in Pittsburgh, PA. His practice spans painting, printmaking, collage, installation, curation, performance, and public art, often engaging themes of space-keeping, urban tradition, hip-hop culture, informalism, and cultural re-appropriation. Through a joy-driven and agitational lens, Kinsel’s work challenges conventional narratives on Black existence and amplifies Black experiences across genres. Kinsel regularly engages in national and international arts residencies that support research, production, and the creation of his work.
