Sara Catapano reflects on past and present in her artwork. Like, how it feels to return to older work with clearer eyes. Her new studio is open. Her forms are alive. And we’re watching, always, with admiration.

In Nebulas, artist Stephanie Gonzalez builds celestial landscapes to hold personal truths. What looks like a galactic explosion is a meditation on trauma, rebirth, and all the energy that shapes us.
This detail? Acrylic, dye, and interference pigment, stippled into luminous clusters that shimmer and shift with the light.

✨ New Art in the Gallery ✨
Heather Kanazawa’s palette is unapologetically emotional. Turquoise collides with shadowy browns and delicate pinks. A cherry tree anchors her composition. Its limbs reaching to the sky with urgency while the water below is kaleidoscopic, as if the entire landscape has been submerged and is being recalled in the mind of a dreamer.

From November 18th, 2020 through January 1, 2021 BoxHeart presents Gavin Benjamin: Heads of State on exhibit in our main gallery and Alice Raymond: Earth on exhibit in our upstairs gallery.
BoxHeart is OPEN! Stop by, schedule your own private viewing, or explore BoxHeart from home in 3D space. We are thrilled to provide even more intimate and authentic experiences for viewing art.
Artist Gavin Benjamin combines his original analog photography and appropriated images with collage, paint, varnish, and other materials like Swarovski crystals to create a mash-up of couture art. He investigates the intersection of culture, media, politics, fashion, and design, addressing questions that (continue to) confront a man of color in America today. Benjamin’s artwork reflects everything that he is thinking – it includes everything that he loves and everything that he is challenged by. It’s honest and curious and bright and thoughtful. And, sometimes a little dark. It’s all of the things that made him want to be a professional artist in the first place.Based on the revolutionary soul of Benjamin’s grandfather and brothers in the village of Guyana, his series Heads of State series bestows this legacy with the legitimacy, power, and honor it deserves. Benjamin’s Heads of State series is Neo Baroque, Bespoke, Cinematic, Beautiful, Engaging, and Contemporary.
With her new exhibition Earth, Raymond offers us a pictorial immersion in her making of territory, with matrices and projections, giving the visitor and collector the rare opportunity to travel a bit with the artist. The idea came to her with the memory of a David Hockney opening, during which she was able to find herself alone in the exhibition space while all the guests were sharing a drink at the reception … It was like a dream, an hour of imaginary walk with the old man. Respect for barrier gestures invites us to an intimate visit with the artist via the Internet at the time of your appointment. You will find yourself in an exhibition-lab, with works like routes of colorful lines, ethereal surfaces like impressions (In French, the word impression means both printing and impression.) and also works awaiting you for their finalization … Of the time of lock-down we found back the taste for DIY and the solutions for art made locally.
