The Geek Art/Green Innovators or GA/GI pronounced (GAH-gee) Festival began in 2010 as a key event of World Environment with numerous partners and supporters. GA/GI was organized as celebration of the creative spirit that binds the eco, art and technology industries. In order to encourage collaboration, GA/GI selects projects that are often new or emerging to allow its participants to showcase or t

est market their product or program. This along with the inclusion of more advanced organizations and projects, allows for an event that features the "best of all possible worlds." Nurtured in an urban community setting ( Bloomfield,Garfield) and with support of several east end universities and numerous businesses in the Pittsburgh region, GA/GI was and continues to be the only event of its kind in Southwestern, PA.

Barbie—Only half as bad as expected. While I went for the sh*ts (Barbie”s pooping dog) and the giggles (Ken gets in touch with his masculine side) I couldnt escape the pink sand long enough to feel I wasn”t being held hostage rather than captivated. I wanted to like it, but left flat-footed. The so-called feminist message basicallly suggested women to use their sexuality, not their brains, to take over the world. Not a healthy message for girls of any age. It almost ruined what is nearly a perfect comedy. Seriously, stay home…wait for it on Netflex.

The GA/GI Story

GA/GI Fest ran from 2010-2019 as Pittsburgh’s premiere art and tech event. Universities, non-profits, local government and artists of every medium as well as scientists and emerging eco projects were showcased during its 10 years. The event is now in the stages of being reorganized into a new entity. Here is its story:

In order to encourage collaboration, GA/GI selects projects that are often new or emerging to allow its participants to showcase or test market their product or program. This along with the inclusion of more advanced organizations and projects, allows for an event that features the "best of all possible worlds." Nurtured in an urban community setting ( Bloomfield,Garfield) and with support of several east end universities and numerous businesses in the Pittsburgh region and in partnership with the Bloomfield Garfield Corporation (BGC), GA/GI was and continues to be the only event of its kind in Southwestern, PA.
