Unblurred is Friday, and we're thrilled to host Nsai Temko, Assemble Alum, Teaching Artist, Maker, and Environmentalist as our September artist. Stop by between 6-10 PM to meet the artist, snacks, and make a little art yourself.

HEART of Nature is the manifestation of yearning for a world that recognizes how humans treat each other is reflected in humanity’s relationship with the environment. Nsai Temko has spent years creating original characters and stories that capture their concern for environmental conservation, the need for Black and Q***r representation, political unrest, and a deep belief in magic. As a loving ode to nature-enthusiast whimsy, this gallery includes paintings of a world mechanic from Nsai’s story, Naturan. They’re called pieces of nature, and serve as a reconciliation of death and ecosystem conservation. This gallery holds multimedia works capturing the journeys of Imerical July, a humanoid plant of a goddess's dreams, and Jackie Summers, the dream leech fighting sunchild. May this gallery remind you that YOU are an agent of our ecosystem with the bugs, birds, bears and trees.

Calling all Pittsburgh Creatives!

Assemble is seeking Maker Experiences for our new, unique, and interactive annual fundraising event, Unicorn Palooza. Past Makers from MakerDate are encouraged to apply!

All funds raised from Unicorn Palooza directly support Assemble’s STEAM education programs for kids, such as Assemble Afterschool, Saturday Crafternoons, On the To Programs, and Summer Camps!

About Unicorn Palooza: 2026 is the FIRST EVER Unicorn Palooza. You might be saying, "Why did Assemble wait so long to have such a fun event?" Great question! We decided to retire MakerDate (thank you for all the years) and transform it into something new, like nothing before. Instead of bidding on dates during the live and silent auction, we are remixing carnival games where attendees can "spin the wheel" to land on a learning experience with a local ceramist, welder, writer, or celebrity! Unicorn Palooza will have plenty of amazing opportunities to connect with creatives, artists, makers, and technologists.

By offering a Maker Experience, we ask that you will:

Submit this Maker Experience application by August 31, 2026, 11:59 pm.
Commit to offering a 2-4 hour making experience for the winner by April 3, 2027
Supply materials for your experience, OR utilize Assemble's space & resources
Promote Unicorn Palooza to your networks - Assemble will provide a media kit
Attend the VIP Hour and Event on Sept 19
Communicate in a timely manner to connect with the "winner" of the experience
Share photos from the experience or invite Assemble staff to document the experience

Wednesday August 26, 6pm - Join us for an artist talk by Mrs. Junyetta Seale

How can green zippers bring us together? Join us at Assemble on Weds 8/26 at 6pm for an artist talk and night of crafting featuring our Unblurred gallery artist Mrs. Junyetta Seale! Every participant will get to customize their own green zipper and then use that as an opportunity to connect with each other!

Mrs. Junyetta Seale is an intergenerational educational consultant with a costuming background. She is the founder of the Golden Pillow Project, a community outreach remediation and sewing program for children, which focuses on runaway and homeless youth. Through her work, she emphasizes meeting kids where they are and bringing all of herself to create an interdisciplinary learning experience based on her 40+ stage productions, career in finance, and own path as a self-learner.
