📚 In 1939, a resident applied for a library card at Mt. Lebanon’s library, then housed on the second floor of the Municipal Building. The library was just about seven years old!

The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon has an entire collection of photographs titled "History Mysteries." They're either undated, have unknown subjects, or unclear locations. Today's History Mystery from 1939 shows an American LaFrance fire engine, but the location of the photo is unknown. Let us know if you have any inklings on where this might have been taken!

This coming Friday, the dedication of Art Walker Field will honor and celebrate Coach Walker, who led Mt. Lebanon football to five WPIAL championships, and for nearly three decades taught U.S. history to thousands of students.

An all-star football game in the 1950s prompted teenager Arthur Walter Walker to visit Mt. Lebanon High School’s stadium for the first time.

“I remember exactly where I was standing,” he recalled. “At that time, the locker room was under the stadium, and that all-star team came out right below where I was standing. I was just impressed with the whole thing.”

Nearly three-quarters of a century later, the gridiron home of the Blue Devils bears his name, honoring his accomplishments during 21 seasons as head coach.

Lebo History at the Pittsburgh Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony! Mario Lemieux and Myron Cope were among the inductees today - both with their own ties to Lebo. Historical Society President Alyssa Jones, who served on the 2026 selection committee, snapped pics with Mayor Corey O’Connor, Bob Stakeley of Heinz History Center, and former Pittsburgh Penguins Tyler Kennedy.
