There is just over three weeks left to see "Keiko Fukazawa Retrospective: The Space in Between," before it closes on Friday, May 16.
The exhibition features a comprehensive survey of California-based artist, Keiko Fukazawa’s more than forty-year career, featuring new works alongside selected archival materials. Fukazawa is deeply influenced by her Japanese heritage and American environment, addressing themes of Asian pop culture and social issues through conceptual exploration. Her functional yet impractical interpretations of traditional forms serve as personal expressions that bridge cultural boundaries.

Learn creative and simple techniques for breathing new life into your well worn and well loved garments, at our upcoming workshop mini-series, Mending 101 with Sam Milford!
Starting Tuesday, May 13, this three-week, will teach you basic and advanced stitching techniques to mend holes, rips, worn areas or split seams in a variety of garments. After the course you will be equipped to discern and accomplish the best method for mending your garments.
For Sam Milford, creating art is a spiritual process where she explores the aesthetic dimension of human communication through reflection and discovery. Themes addressed in her art are often intensely intimate, humorous, and anecdotal, exploring ways in which texture, color and form comprise a language to express and evoke emotion about life, joy, change, surprise, or tell a story. She is committed to recycling and reusing materials and sustainable resources. She has been a member of the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh for almost 25 years and has explored a range of fiber techniques and applications. Her work has been exhibited and won awards in local, regional and international shows and she has a piece in the Permanent Collection of the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

Have you stopped by to checkout "Throughlines" in our Gerri Kay Exhibition cases?
"Throughlines" is an exhibition by artist and current CC Apprentice Kate Davidson. Each of the vignettes in this exhibition depicts one of the more than twenty places Davidson has called home.
Combining two-dimensional and three-dimensional elements, the drawings are part daydream and part memory. They rest on a twisting throughline, navigating continuous curls, turns, double backs, and loops. All together, the scenes are a map of Kate’s life, a miniature cityscape of the many places that have given her roots.
"Throughlines" is on view through May 31, and admission is always free.
