Pittsburgh has a habit of meeting space-sized challenges.

In 1969, Pittsburgh native Jack Kinzler invented the clever rod system that kept the American flag open on the Moon. That same build-it-here energy still runs through our city today.

Space careers can feel far away until someone sees the work happening through our windows. People step inside, watch real spacecraft take shape, hear the story behind the work, and suddenly the future feels a lot closer.

Pittsburgh has helped shape space history before and this city still has a few Moon-sized problems left to solve.

A few familiar names are orbiting far from home.

Out beyond Mars, asteroids named 484 Pittsburghia, 457 Alleghenia, and 26858 Misterrogers orbit the Sun.

Having the names of home out there makes space feel less distant and reminds us that space innovation is happening right here in our own backyard.

Head to the North Shore and watch the next chapter come together.

Most people think of space as somewhere far off. Then they stand here for a minute, watching someone work on a spacecraft like any other day.

When the work is right in front of you, it starts to feel closer, more human, and a little more possible for all kinds of people.

Spend some time with us on the North Shore and take it in. You might leave with a new way of thinking about where you could go next.

Some campers reach for the stars with a paintbrush. This summer camp gives young artists room to explore planets, patterns, and big cosmic ideas.

Our Astro Art Academy invites ages 9-11 to explore space through creative projects from July 13-17. Campers will connect what they create to real space work happening right here in Pittsburgh.

This summer camp is built for the kid who doodles rockets in the margins, asks huge questions, and proudly glues things with confidence.

Don't miss out. Register your child today.

There is only one place in all of Pennsylvania dedicated entirely to space exploration.

We hold that space on Pittsburgh's North Shore, where real stories of spacecraft, careers, and missions live in one place. We allow people to see themselves a little closer to space than they expected.

Come spend some time with us and see what feels possible.

A tiny spark can do a lot in five days. Our summer camp gives campers space to chase ideas with full inventor focus.

This June, our Zap, Crackle, and Spark Inventor’s Camp gives ages 7-9 a week of hands-on spacecraft work in Pittsburgh. Young builders will see how big ideas move from “what if” to “wait, that actually worked.”

Families can expect curiosity, problem-solving, and a few proud project reveals. Join us June 22-26 on the North Shore for a summer camp with real space energy.

Pittsburgh built its name on steel, and now it’s starting to show up in space.

More than 100 companies across Southwestern Pennsylvania are working on space technology right now. Engineers, machinists, programmers, and students are all contributing to what leaves Earth next.

We’re putting this work out in the open on the North Shore. Spend a little time with us and see where this city is headed next.
