We invite you to experience ‘Captured Impressions’, a compelling new art exhibition by Becka Jahelka.
—
This body of work finds its genesis in the quiet encounters of the natural world. Becka’s eye is seized by color, translating ephemeral impressions onto paper where stark mountain vistas and quaking aspen trees shift in perpetual dialogue with the seasons, the light, and the hours of the day. Walking the same path across time reveals a profound fluency in subtle transformations, born from her long summer and fall stays in Pitkin, Colorado.
—
Becka works primarily as a watercolor batik painter and printmaker, mastering a layered medium where watercolor and wax alternate on Japanese paper to protect and unveil vibrant depths before the wax is ironed away. Through printmaking methods spanning reduction blocks, collagraphs, drypoints, monoprints, and monotypes, she explores the structural interplay of abstract composition, line, and shape.
