Hi everyone,

We just wanted to make it clear that Horne Creek's Christmas By Lamplight programs and the Christmas Open House are entirely different types of programs. The former is at night and will include Christmas carols, making an ornament to take home, and readings from the time period. Heavy Hors d’Oeuvres will be served. Reservations are necessary for these programs which will take place on December 7 and 8. Cost per person is $25.00, plus tax.

The Christmas Open House will allow visitors to see the Hauser House decorated for Christmas and encourage you to shop in our giftshop for wonderful holiday gifts. We have handcrafted items, vintage style ornaments, old-timey children's games, t-shirts, jewelry, an extensive selection of books for all ages, plus much more. A very unique item featured this year is "Bountiful Red Acres: Two Farms, Two Families, and A Year on the Land" Telling the story of the Hausers and the Sawyers families in 1900, this very special children's book is a wonderful way for children or grandchildren to learn about farm life on a typical middle-class Surry County, NC farm. This event is free.

Just a reminder that we have a few more days until Christmas by Lamplight. We are so excited to bring this event to everyone once again! Our annual Christmas program happens on Thursday and Friday, December 7&8th. We've still got some spots left for 5:30 and 7:30 on both evenings. This enchanting evening is sure to make your holiday season merry and bright.

In observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday, we will be closed Thursday, November 23rd, and Friday, November 24th. We will resume normal operating hours Saturday, November 25th.

We are excited to invite guests for our annual Christmas by Lamplight program on Thursday and Friday, December 7th & 8th. Tickets are on sale now! There are two programs each night: one for 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm and the other for 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Experience all the joy and cheer of what Christmas meant at Horne Creek Farm circa 1900. Do you do some neat crafts that would be in keeping with an agricultural theme? Contact Horne Creek Farm at 336-325-2298 for information on how to be a vendor at the 30th Annual Cornshucking Frolic on October 21. The cutoff date is September 28, so get in touch with us soon!

We would love to have a soap vendor, someone who makes homemade bread, etc. No inquiries regarding items that would not be in keeping with an agricultural theme, please!

It will be a fun day with a ton of nice people visiting the site and lots of opportunities to sell your products.

Please note that Horne Creek Farm State Historic Site will be closed next Tuesday, September 19th, so the staff can attend a professional development opportunity.
