🎨Meet Adele Mahan!

Thank you for joining me on my art journey!

I’ve loved art since childhood but never thought I had the “gift” to pursue it seriously. Creativity runs in my family — my mom was a concert pianist and my grandfather an architect — so maybe it was always in my blood.

Before painting, I spent nearly 10 years in real estate and over 20 helping older adults transition into new homes. I loved the design side — creating welcoming spaces filled with warmth and personality.

For years, I lived vicariously through my youngest son, .instagrant, as he pursued his art education at RISD and later earned his MFA in painting. Once my kids were grown and my parents passed, I realized it was finally my time to follow what I’ve always loved.

I’ve taken a few classes with Braitman Studios and am now beginning my third year studying with Nicholas Stewart at Holt School of Art. I love spending time with the wonderful, talented artists in this community — they inspire me daily.

I mostly paint in oils (and sometimes pastels or gouache). I mostly love the processes and that you are always learning with art. Many times it is like working a puzzle! My happy place? Painting en plein air, surrounded by color, light, and God’s beautiful creation. 🌿✨

🎨 Meet Catherine Ikner!

“Hi, I’m Catherine.

I began painting during COVID as a form of relaxation. I started by watching online tutorials and studying other artists. When I was able, I began taking in-person oil painting classes at Braitman Studio in Charlotte. Later, I began taking classes at Holt Studio of Fine Art, where I am currently a student.

Prior to painting, I was an elementary school teacher, focusing on gifted and talented education. When my first child was born, I became a stay-at-home mom. I have always enjoyed creative pursuits and love decorating, gardening, flower arranging and photography. I even started a small business for floral design just before the pandemic.

I found that painting has offered me the opportunity to learn new things but also to look at the world in a new way. Not only do I now examine objects and scenery for color variations in a way I never did before, but I now also embrace the lessons of imperfection that painting teaches. The mindfulness of painting gives me a much-appreciated sense of calm.

I primarily paint landscapes, still lifes, and abstracts. Most of my paintings are oil although I do like to experiment with different mediums, like pastels and acrylics. I often choose subject matter based on the feeling I want to have or the places I want to be. My goal is often to create peaceful or serene pieces.

Thank you so much for your interest in my work.”

🎨 Meet Jamie Honerlaw!

“I first discovered painting during the quiet days of COVID, beginning with watercolors as a way to find calm and connection. What started as a personal outlet quickly grew into something deeper—a sense of self I hadn’t realized I was missing.

I was born in Pocatello, Idaho, and later graduated from Florida State University with a master’s degree in social work. Much of my professional career was spent in child welfare, with a focus on adoptions, before I chose to stay home to raise my two amazing boys. Becoming a mother reshaped how I view creativity: painting became both a personal journey and a way to show my children that pursuing your dreams and passions is not only possible, but essential.

In 2021, I began studying at the Holt School of Fine Art, where I continue to grow as a student and artist. I am driven by a deep hunger to keep learning, exploring, and refining my craft. My work primarily centers on florals and landscapes, often inspired by the beauty I encounter in daily life and travel. I paint in oils, pastels, and watercolor, mediums that allow me to express both softness and vibrancy.

Art has always run through my family, and stepping into this practice feels like coming home. Each painting is not only a reflection of the world around me, but also a reminder—to myself, to my children, and to anyone who sees my work—that creativity is a vital part of who we are.”

🎨 Meet Tiffany Eby!

“Living a creative life has always felt natural to me and I have found inspiration and gratitude in fashion careers, interior design, and now, creating art. My fascination with texture, movement, and light is only overshadowed by my endless curiosity with color and how it can enhance our lives.

My art reflects the people, places and memories that are near to my heart and weaves a rich tapestry of the stories I have to tell. My work is rooted in oil painting and drawn from photographs of my family's everyday life. These images-sometimes of milestone moments, other times of the ordinary-become the foundation for paintings that seek to preserve the fleeting emotions of daily living. I approach each canvas as a way to honor the beauty woven into both the special and the mundane of family life.

My formative years were spent in Morris County, New Jersey, just thirty miles from Manhattan. I am grateful for having explored the arts and culture in the city over many decades, as it has greatly influenced my creativity and artistic eye. Additionally, I have had the privilege of international travels taking me to some of the most remarkable art museums and galleries in Europe. I have had the good fortune of taking painting lessons by several premier artists in the Charlotte area. The well of inspiration runs deep. I will always remain a student as I continue to expand on my style and voice.

I reside in Charlotte with my husband, Rob, and our precious pup, Birdie Lou. Our three grown children have flown the coop.”

🎨Meet Sanaz Boroumand!

Sanaz Boroumand creates haunting landscape, figurative, and non representational pieces using mixed media, primarily painting with oil.

Sanaz Boroumand started sketching and oil painting classes when she was 18 years old in her native country of Iran.

After moving to America at the age of 21, Sanaz studied interior design at her local college. In unision, she began studying fine art under Andy Braitman in 2019.

The experience of painting became a great escape from the complexities of life. As she learned to create, abstract painting provided Sanaz with a sense of inner peace. She enjoyed using different mixed media to create multiple layers of translucent colors through the process of scratching, distressing and dissolving.

Sanaz grew up with art, traveling across the world and visiting several museums, which giving her both inspiration and a sense of wonder.

"Art is an expression of our inner thought, feelings and experiences. It is also an expression of creativity that can be used for self-reflection or social influence."t
