Block of Broad St from our 1952 scrapbook. Note the well house in the foreground. According to the late Franklin Davenport, that well is still there under the street and flower bed in the median.

5-7-26 Throwback Thursday
An early view of McDougald Ave in Chipley/Pine Mountain. You can see the Methodist Church on the far left, the 1908 City Hall building and the 2-story former apothecary building on the right. The apothecary building became the Coca-Cola bottling plant from 1909-1917. The building on the left corner was a blacksmith shop; the post office stands there now. The current city hall building is between the blacksmith shop and the 1908 City Hall building.

Throwback Thursday for April 30, 2026
Sorry I'm a day late - internet issues last night!
There are no pictures this week, only descriptions of two other tornadoes that tore through the area. The first one was on March 20, 1875. Louise Barfield describes those in her History of Harris County book. The other tornado happened on April 15, 1884. Our descriptions of this storm come from The Columbus Daily Times 4-17-1884.
