Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas Changing Lives through Creativity! The ARTx3 Campus serves as a cultural crossroad:
Engaging, Educating, and Entertaining through the arts and sciences.
(345)

The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas was founded in 1968, made a commission of the City of Pine Bluff in 1971, and accredited with the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) in 2001. ASC presents programming in the visual arts, performing arts, and the sciences through exhibits, performances, classes, and local partnerships. Education programming occurs on and off site and area schools are encouraged to visit for free exhibition tours and hands-on activities. Classes are offered for children, youth, and adults with scholarships available. Gallery admission and family programming such as Second Saturday Family FunDay are freeβ€”thanks to sponsors, successful grant writing, and the generosity of the local community.

πŸ¦πŸ”¬ CAN YOU MAKE A BIRD MOVE WITHOUT TOUCHING IT? πŸ”¬πŸ¦

Our young scientists put their observation skills to the test during the Next Gen STEAM Exhibition Series! Students explored the "Bird in a Cage or on a Branch" activity and investigated how they could make a bird appear to move without ever touching it! 🐦✨

Using a simple paper β€œcage” and bird model, students explored air, motion, and visual effects while observing what happened when the model moved. Along the way, they made predictions, looked closely at what they saw, and used evidence to explain the changes they observed. πŸ”¬πŸ‘€πŸ’¨

Hands-on activities like this encourage students to ask questions, test their ideas, and discover that science is all around us! Sometimes, what looks like magic is actually science in action. ✨🐦

Want to bring your group to experience Next Gen STEAM? Schedule a visit with our STEAM Education Director, Stephanie Johnson-Carlton!
