Our exhibits include 4,000 artifacts showcasing our rich history in: • lumbering/logging • farming • educational heritage • early commerce • military • home arts and service clubs Local churches take turns show-casing their history and private collections/hobbies round out our annual loan exhibits. The ancestral portrait wall frames an extensive collection of genealogies and other resource material for public perusal. The collections rotate in and out of archives to keep the exhibit floor fresh each year. We also have an interactive children's exhibit. The Pickford Quilters demonstrate hand quilting each summer. The quilts created from this demonstration are raffled the following summer.

The museum is clearing out stuff from the basement ( not artifacts or donated collections) but old windows, doors and a bunch of cut off sections of 2 X 4's that are approx. 12 inches long; perfect for crafts, games or whatever your creative mind can think of. The 2 X 4's are left over from when we built stud walls to accommodate the electrical wiring and insulation installed in 2012. They gotta go and soon. Call 297-3013

In 1690 the Protestant king, William of Orange, triumphed over the Catholic king, James II, at the Battle of the Boyne in what is known as the Glorious Revolution. The Revolution took place in Northern Ireland - a long ways from Pickford, Michigan. Irish Protestants began the tradition of observing William's victory with a celebration on the 12th of July. The early Irish settlers of Pickford brought that tradition with them and established a Loyal Orange Lodge within the community, referring to themselves as the "Luther Defenders." The Defenders' banner depicts William of Orange crossing the Boyne river. Come see the banner and our other seasonal exhibits to learn more about the "Luther Defenders."

Lots of neat stuff from the good old days, plus friendly and helpful volunteer staff.
We have some stuff in the basement of the museum that we need to get rid of. I don't mean artifacts but we have some windows, doors and a large quantity of 2 X 4 pieces cut in 10 to 12 inch lengths. Great for crafts or making games etc. This is all free stuff. We will be finishing he basement floor and need to clear out "stuff"
