More Monsoon Show Photos Ahhhhh…We’re still smiling from opening weekend of the Monsoon Show. It was such a great reminder of how much we love bringing people together at the Brill Gallery and Studio—meeting our community, sharing conversations, and celebrating the incredible photographers we have right here in Arizona.

We’re excited to do it all again for Closing Night — October 16, 6–10pm. Come spend the evening with us, meet the photographers, see the work, and celebrate our local creative community.

Talking About Your Work

At Brill Gallery and Studio, we believe learning to talk about your work is an important part of being an artist.

That’s why we encourage the artists we feature to spend time in the gallery, listen, answer questions, and talk about their photographs with friends, fellow artists, collectors, and strangers.

It isn’t always easy. Sometimes you know a photograph works long before you can explain why. But those conversations can be incredibly valuable.

Someone may see something in your photograph that you never consciously considered. Everyone brings their own experiences to what they see, and those different perspectives can make the work more meaningful for both the viewer and the artist.

Sometimes, talking about your work can even help you understand it differently — and influence what you create next…and that’s not a bad thing.

What a night!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for the opening of the Monsoon Show at Brill Gallery and Studio. Seeing the gallery and backyard filled with people supporting the selected photographers, talking about the work, meeting one another, laughing and simply spending time together meant more than we can express.

This show is about our Arizona—Arizona photographers sharing photographs made here—and seeing so many people come together around that work was a reminder of why events like this matter.

From Flagstaff to Phoenix to Tucson, photography in Arizona continues to grow because of the photographers making the work, the people willing to show up and support it, and a community that believes photography deserves to be seen, collected, and celebrated.

Together, we can continuing to elevate photography in Arizona and create more opportunities for the incredible talent that exists here.

Community feels especially important these days, and we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who chooses to be part of ours.

And a huge thank you to Danny, unheard.harmony for documenting the night so perfectly. These photos really capture the energy, people, and fun of the evening.

Thank you to our featured photographers, everyone who attended, and everyone who continues to support Brill Gallery and Studio and Arizona photography.

Not yet King Louie but we’re getting ready. The gallery is coming out of its summer hibernation and the photographers are dropping off their Monsoon prints.

The Monsoon Show opens this Friday and Saturday 6-10pm. Come hangout and see some of the best Monsoon photography and Timelapse coming out of Arizona!

Our Monsoon show is truly Arizona through and through—every selected photographer is based in Arizona, and every image in the show was made right here in Arizona. It’s a celebration of the people, landscapes, weather, and moments that make our state such an incredible place to photograph.

Supporting local artists means supporting the creative community that helps tell Arizona’s story. Come see the work, meet the photographers, and maybe take home a piece of Arizona for your wall.

A huge THANK YOU to all the photographers who submitted work for this year’s Monsoon Show.

The selection process was not easy. We received so much strong work and truly appreciate everyone who shared their vision of Arizona’s monsoon season with us.

Congratulations to the 20 photographers selected for this year’s exhibition! We can’t wait to get these images on the walls and share the show with our local community.

We could not be more excited to welcome local artist Oré to the Brill Gallery for his solo exhibition, ARIZONA LAYOVER, this November and December!

Currently based right here in our Garfield neighborhood, French street artist Oré brings his work to the U.S. for his American debut.

ARIZONA LAYOVER features stencil-based paintings shaped by Oré’s experience of life in Arizona—from everyday observations and desert landscapes to the cultural intersections he encounters across the state. A second body of work looks outward, drawing from his travels around the world and featuring his recurring figure, Quetzalcoatl, as a thread connecting place, memory, and movement.

Photography also plays an important role in the exhibition and in Oré’s process. His own photographs become the starting point for hand-cut stencils, while his documentation of murals allows work created on the street to live beyond its original place.
