Join us tonight at 6 PM for the opening reception of our newest changing exhibit 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨. Explore the wonders of the museum and get an early look of the new exhibit!

𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙄𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 will highlight the complexity of ten Indigenous artists in America in the 21st century. These artists explore issues of sovereignty, commodification, the right to cultural expression in public spaces, and the ancestral stories passed down through the generations that speak to identity in generations that speak to identity in both personal and collective ways.

This evening’s public programming at S’ed̲av Va’aki Museum includes a viewing of the new exhibit, music by DJ H-Zo, and a special poetry performance by Cody Achin.

Save the date! On the weekend before Indigenous Peoples’ Day, October 10 and 11, S’edav Va’aki Museum is collaborating with Cahokia PHX to host a pop-up exhibit in our Community Room! Explore this special exhibit for free and general museum admission for the museum and archaeological trail.

Experience Roots We Water: An Immersive Art Installation, is a multidisciplinary immersive installation that centers Indigenous identity, sovereignty, and self-determination as living, inseparable forces — expressed through large-scale canvas, projection, and the material knowledge of five Native artists working in collective declaration.

The installation occupies space as an act of cultural assertion. To enter is to step into a field of memory, resistance, and continuity — where the land is not a backdrop but a subject, and water is not a resource but a relative.

Come visit our booth and join in on the all day fun at the Heard Museum on October 11! The event will feature cultural performances, hands-on activities, artists, and family-friendly experiences.

This year’s theme is Imagining Tomorrow Together as we honor Indigenous traditions, creativity, and resilience through engaging activities designed for all ages. Visitors will have the chance to witness a performance by award-winning Hoop Dance competitor Cooper Nez (Navajo), hear from Emmy-nominated producer Joey Clift (Cowlitz), and more!

Celebrate International Archaeology Day (IAD) at Phoenix, Arizona’s largest preserved archaeological site, S’ed̲av Va’aki Museum on Saturday, October 17th, 2026.

Our City Archaeologist, Chris Schwartz, will offer a guided tour of The Park of Four Waters from 9:30 am–11:00 am. Discover how these advanced canal systems were created and their impact on S’edav Va’aki and beyond. S'edav Va'aki Museum - formerly Pueblo Grande Museum in Phoenix will open “Indigenous Identities,” a contemporary art exhibition examining the connections between cultural identity, personal experience and Indigenous life in 21st-century America. The exhibit opens Oct. 8 and will remain on display through July 2027.
