FOUND:RE Contemporary Issues Open Call for "Too Cute," a New Exhibition on Kawaii Culture and Childlike Wonder!

FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel and FOUND:RE Contemporary, with support from Artlink Inc., today announced an open call for "Too Cute," a studio exhibition opening Friday, October 16, 2026, at 1100 N Central Ave.

The show invites work that leans into kawaii, childlike wonder, and dreamy, sugar-sweet imagery — cute, and maybe a little too cute.

Drawing on kawaii culture's roots in postwar Japanese art and design, it treats softness and sentimentality as legitimate aesthetic territory: not just decoration, but a mode of seeing.

Roughly 30 artists will be selected on the quality, originality, and craftsmanship of their work. The exhibition runs through April 11, 2027.

Timeline subject to change. Learn more here -

The following call for artists of all practices is presented by FOUND:RE Phoenix Hotel and the FOUND:RE Contemporary art program, with support provided by Artlink Inc., for a new exhibition cycle entitled “Too Cute.” The deadline to submit is Thursday, September 17, by 5:00 p.m. (local Arizona t...
