The Hunting Park Community Science Network seeks to engage and excite neighborhood residents in the wonders of science and inspire them to interact with science, engineering, and technology events and activities on a more regular basis. The Franklin Institute, in collaboration with key community stakeholders in the Hunting Park neighborhood, plans to create science related activities, including a

Star Party in early November and a Discovery Day that will take place within the greater context of the annual Philadelphia Science Festival. The aim of all programming efforts is to make science accessible and activate a network of community partnerships. This is the first known attempt within the city of Philadelphia to mobilize an entire community to provide science related content for its own residents. HPCSN is comprised of representatives from:
Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha
ASPIRA Inc. of Pennsylvania
Hunting Park EPIC
Ayuda
Community Umbrella Agency (APM)
Edison High School
Esperanza College
Esperanza Health Center
Historic Fair Hill Burial Ground

Esperanza College in partnership with the Hunting Park Science Community Network and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers hosted the Creation Station on Saturday February 29th to celebrate Engineers Week (2/16- 2/22). The event, on it’s seventh year, has grown. This year visitors could participate in over 20 hands-on activities. From neural connections, to music making, mixing substances and making slime or oobleck, building highways, towers, or Lego structures, to electrical energy and hair-raising zapping experiences, children and adults of all ages learned while having fun. This event was possible through the help of our volunteers from:
