“I like to use geometric shapes, architectural elements and hollow construction forms to interpret nature. In result, the work is separated into two directions. One is toward plants, flowers, gardens and the other is rocks, minerals and landscapes. My work is also an exploration of sculpture form in jewelry.” - Liaung Chung Yen Designs

“My current work is an exploration of texture and pattern. By using unconventional techniques along with the inherent chemistry of the metal oxides that formulate the colored glass, I am able to create very complex patterns that imitate natural objects or landscapes.” - Thomas Spake

“I create paper weavings from street posters that I collect myself while exploring the walls and streets of many of the world’s cities. After I pull down sheets and scraps of colorful urban paper, I return to my Philadelphia studio and begin to work slicing them into strips and fragments and weaving them back together into new and recycled compositions. I have a background in traditional printmaking. This gives me a special insight into how these street posters are produced and, as a result, I can hand-print my own sheets of colored paper to interweave into the found posters.” - Galen Gibbson

"Glassblowing for me has become a process of taking a unique, transparent, very hot liquid and freezing it at room temperature, in a controlled and sometimes precarious balancing act of heat, physics, timing and human intervention in these processes. I find glass most beautiful when worked in such a way that conveys its fluidity as a material while expressing its unique relationship with light and transparency." - Nicholas Kekic

“... my purpose and passion is to preserve traditional handmade craft, increase production of ethical, handmade goods made in the US, and grow my business to the level where I can start to make a real difference to other small artisanal businesses like my own. In my own work I produce a high-end knitwear company that designs and creates women’s knitwear and unisex cold weather accessories. Everything is made by hand, using luxury fibers from the US and Europe on vintage human powered knitting machines.” -Charlotte Hess

"Art can be a difficult subject to discuss. I believe that its very subjective nature defies particular definition. Many times what one person considers beautiful, another might scoff at…what one enjoys to hear, another might find cacophonous. The point of Art to me lies in a reality deeper than mere aesthetics, a reality that we share simply in our existence within a community, whether that be global or local, and the perception or interaction with that commonality in some vital way." - Joshua Vogel

“Using nature as my inspiration, I endeavor to create expertly crafted heirloom jewelry and vessels. As an artist I receive gratification from working in noble metals that some- day will be owned, displayed, utilized or worn by clients in their everyday life. It is my hope to have my artwork passed down from generation to generation.” - Genevieve Flynn

Waldemar Kerschbaumer is the Creative Director and founder of the advertising and web agency adpassion based in Bolzano, Italy. He spent 7 years working for a local weekly magazine and over 10 years in different advertising agencies before founding his own company. adpassion caters to a variety of different sectors, from business to education and museums, and private and business clients as well as artists.

Italiano Plurale was born in 2018, when Waldemar Kerschbaumer was asked to select Italy’s best and most promising jewelry artists for the Vienna Jewelry Days. The big leap came after just a few months: The annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show selected Italy as their guest country and Waldemar was asked to curate and select the best Italian artists from various art categories.

His previous experience promoting artists and having their work shown at international events proved an invaluable asset in the early days of the project. Italian artists expressed the need for support, especially for a whole host of excellent yet underrated artisans. In 2021 he organized the guest Land ”Italy“ at the Grassi Museum of Applied Arts, Leipzig (D) and in 2022 the participation of the collective at the international contemporary handicrafts event IHM at Munich (D).

"To create most of my work I use hand carving and power carving techniques in conjunction with the lathe. Recently I’ve started venturing into the realms of more representational art and exploring relief carvings. My inspirations include bones, rocks, bark, scavenged and salvaged materials and antique textiles." - Sarah Grace Cheek

"I am inspired by nature, by math, and vintage garments (thank you suffragettes and Dior). But my true voice is that of a tomboy who loved to play with bugs. While designing I ponder, can a woman be both strong and feminine? This question is a persistent conflict in my design. Even the materials convey duality: soft terry knits folded into architectural shapes or diaphanous silks merged with stiff cotton. I use technique, material, and aesthetic to speak for me." - Kim Schalk RTW

"I create one-of-a-kind and small groupings of sculptural vessels that explore the meeting point between natural and man-made worlds. The forms integrate these divergent sensibilities into a composed landscape, such as a stand of bamboo-like, truncated cylinders, perforated with windows to look like corroded skyscrapers, or a simple form such as a sphere, marked on its surface with an off-center, wandering imprint, like bird tracks in the sand. " - Ani Kasten Ceramics

"Process drives my creative journey. I love the feeling of a form rising from a ball of clay, the raging uncertainty in the atmospheric kiln, and the joy of pulling out a successful piece, still cooling, and learning its story. My work brings that sense of curiosity, excitement, and pleasure to the user--getting it right into their hands. I make pots for everyday use, so that people take pause and care for the things and people around them. - David Roswell

"Patiently working with a variety of super thin plywood, Philip builds up layer upon layer to create relief sculptures that invoke feelings both traditional and modern. The demand of building in physical support systems throughout the artwork is a design challenge that increases the difficulty and the quality of the final relief aesthetic. Having to simultaneously balance form and function pushes the final design further than if those challenges didn't exist." - Philip Roberts Art by Philip Roberts

"My work marries my appreciation of ancient ceramics with my ongoing dedication to create pieces that are contemporary and functional. Central to my designs and throwing technique is making pieces both light in weight and satisfying to hold and use. I believe that form and function are mutually enabling." Alexandra Geller

"I use Comic Strips because the characters' expressive faces contain bold, bright, and powerful colors. I use Expired Coupons because the textural patterns of many elements including the UPC Bar Codes are reminiscent of African Kente cloth. I strive to bring out these aesthetic strengths to create jewelry that is equally interesting both on and off the body. I truly believe the ordinary (such as newspaper) can be extraordinary." - Holly Anne Mitchell Newspaperjewelry.com

"I love to combine different textures, colors, shapes and notions like hand braided pigtails and hand cut flowers. Everyday I strive to be as close to Zero Waste as possible. I use my fallouts in my appliques and smaller items like headbands and masks. I use locally made fabric, luxury wools, organic cottons, sustainable bamboo rayon, and faux furs. I draw my inspiration from the beautiful nature here on Cape Cod and translate it through my Russian folk art schooling. All my designs are fully functional, made to last and be handed down to siblings, cousins and friends." - Anatassia Gonye Tuff Kookooshka Studio

"I am guided by my Korean heritage, Maryland upbringing, and graphic design education. I care deeply about functional designs, always thinking about the balance and movement of my pots in action. My work has a minimal and rustic style, meant to appeal to those who appreciate the natural world." - Mea Rhee Mea Rhee . Good Elephant Pottery

"I use conventional glass materials in unconventional ways to decorate the interior surfaces of handblown glass vessels. This includes tumbling glass cane inside vessels to create fused "nests" of glass and applying silver and copper leaf, by hand while the piece is still hot and on the punty, to the interior surface." - Fred Kaemmer Fred's Glass
