"To me, working wood is an absorbing challenge. It is taking heavy, rough lumber -- wood that might seem outwardly unappealing -- and opening that lumber up: Cutting, shaping, planing, sanding, and smoothing until the wood is transformed into what I think is a beautiful and useful object, while still keeping the essence of the wood alive." - R.A. "I work to create finely designed and crafted contemporary art in jade. I think of my jewelry as small-scale sculptural artworks that are also wearable objects. While this inspiring material has a 7,000-year pedigree as an artistic medium, I'm constantly working to create newly designed art jewelry that is totally relevant for today's fine craft audience." - Peter Schilling

"Inspired by nature and its beautiful forms, I use the extremely fine thread of high karat gold and platinum to bring my designs to life. Whether it be a tiny raindrop gliding down a leaf or a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, the vine-like precious metal wirework captures those transitory moments and preserves them in timeless jewelry pieces." - Baiyang Jewelry

"The inspiration comes from the landscape and the scenery of the nature. I try to create images in my work that will tell stories and express emotions. The materials that I used are mostly 18k gold, sterling silver and precious stones. The techniques include fabrication, forming, fusing, soldering and stone setting." - Liaung Chung Yen Designs

"Deeply rooted in the natural world, my ceramics and textiles are a cross-pollination of the leaves and wildflowers of the Hudson Valley combined with stylized flower patterns from my historical textile archive. By cutting fine lines and pressing found objects into clay, I create rhythmic patterns on delicate, organic vessels. The intention is to make an unforced impression of nature, with a visual cohesion that is modern and beautiful." - Helen Prior

"The primary concern of my pottery making is finding the perfect balance between esthetic and function. While I'm passionate in this particular artistic endeavor, I never lose sight that what I'm making is a functional object that enhances my collector's daily life." - Dwo Wen Chen Three Wheel Studio

"I am an abstract expressionist glass artist. For over 30 years I have mastered the optics of thick glass, juxtaposing refined forms with expressive coloration. I lead a small team of glassblowers in my Vermont studio. We offer our local community the opportunity to watch and learn the art of blown glass in our open glassblowing arena. Glassblowing is a collaborative process, much like a coordinated dance. When we struggle and overcome obstacles together, we grow both as people and as artists." - Randi Solin Glass

"By combining marble dust (pulverized marble stone) and oils, inks, and acrylics—a sort of Fresco plaster can be made. That material can then be sculpted onto any surface. I choose to use canvas as my substrate, since it lends the look of cotton or linen—those textures, juxtaposed with a gritty sculpture, provide a warm contrast so that textures can exist together in exciting, new ways. I use biutmen asphaltum to stain the sculpture so that I may recapture the texture and grain of the marble dust—capturing the ceramic “look” by highlighting the irregularities, grit, and negative space." - Collin Maher-Velasquez

"My dimensional portraits are inspired by turn of the 19th century photography. Each piece is handcrafted with found objects, paint, fabric, and embroidery. Weaving together a story about contemporary life, filled with layers of detail, symbolism, and humor, my reliquary paintings are meant to honor time, culture, and history." - Carrie Pearce

"I shift lines in space and attempt to create balance and contrast, while considering touch and its unique role in functional pottery. Throughout history we find similarities in form and surface embellishments of vessels that not only perform but give importance to certain actions. I draw inspiration from those similarities found in works created by dissociated cultures and the shared human impulse to poke a lump of clay." - Jon Stein

"I love to mix yarns, to play with colors and patterns, and to make them all explode a little bit with some sparkle and gleam. Cashmere gives beauty, warmth and durability; Swarovski crystals activate the surface, adding depth and motion. I try to make my pieces special to be near, like reuniting people with their long-lost favorite thing." - Elyse Allen Textiles

"My decorated handmade pottery is equally at home on the wall or on the table. Featuring highly-detailed illustrations and comics of my own design, a single plate functions as a narrative prompt that one can ponder while also using it to eat their mid-day meal. Original drawings are transferred to handbuilt pottery using a unique ceramic-screenprint process which embeds the imagery in the clay, fully sealed beneath food-safe glaze." - Ian M Petrie Ceramics

"My inspirations include bones, rocks, bark, scavenged and salvaged materials, and antique textiles. Crafting reimagined adaptations of items reveals observations of myself and my perceived reality. For me, creating is an exercise where mind and body work in unison which culminates in a dance of muscle memory and spontaneity." - Sarah Grace Cheek

"Philosophy of my work is quality, simplicity and elegance. I aim to apply both traditional and modern skills to develop a variety of hat shapes and textures, transformed into multi-functional collections that can be worn in an everyday environment, and yet still has a modern twist. Each hat is formed with wooden hat block with handmade of exotic materials sourced from around the world." Karen Morris

Fine Arts alumna Kate Leibrand ’11 recently had her captivating, textile-based artwork chosen as the winner of the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show Levitties Family Prize for Excellence in Design award!

Leibrand's winning entry was chosen from over 195 contemporary craft artists across 31 states in 13 categories. Using mostly felt with a large-scale repetitious pattern, her labor-intensive process includes cutting, painting, folding, stitching, gluing, and pinning thousands of fabric elements onto a substrate.

Before and after of my booth at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. It started out a bit rough when I realized I forgot to pack some important pieces of gear, but thankfully my next door neighbor saved my bacon by loaning me some of his. And Karen Caldwell of gave me a big hug when I was upset about it. After surviving a stressful setup day, the rest of the show went by in a blur. Thank you to everyone who came by, and to the committee that puts together this world class show! So basically I'm going to lock myself in the basement and make pots non-stop for my Open Studio in four weeks, December 10-11.
It’s the last day of the last show of the year. K.Gereau Textiles will be in booth 125 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show until 5 o’clock today.

Hope Boxes are coming all the way from Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love!

The Le Family adopted 23 Jackson Elementary students and shopped, gathered, sorted, and packed over the past week for me to bring Hope Boxes back to Florida!

I’ve been in Philly helping my friend, Flavia, with her booth at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show this week. A mutual friend, Tara, lives in Philly with her family. We all raised our kids together in NC. When I asked if they’d like to help, they jumped on the opportunity!

Their outpouring of love brought us joy as we watched them put the final touches on the boxes last night. So much compassion, hours of fun, and eternal hopes are packed tight waiting to proclaim to a child this season that “You Matter to Me!”

There are 13 more students to adopt. If you’d like to make a Hope Box for a student in need, please reach out!
