Under India’s first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, Jeanneret was hired to work on The Chandigarh project, it was the pinnacle of Pierre Jeanneret’s work as an architect and designer. The v-leg committee chairs were designed using inexpensive, locally sourced teak which was big and humidity resistant and the V design was an element used extensively in his designs for Chandigarh.
