Historic Fallsington, Inc. To preserve the historical significance of the Village of Fallsington for future generations and to educate the public about its culture and rich history.

Historic Fallsington, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of this historic village in lower Bucks County since 1953. Over nearly seven decades we’ve worked in close harmony with our neighbors to balance the interests and needs of the community with the vital task of caring for the 6 historic buildings and thousands of unique artifacts entrusted to our care. They form a window to the past with a view stretching back over three centuries and allow us to tell the stories of the people who lived and worked here through momentous events in the history of our nation. As a community, today’s Fallsington is integrally woven into the fabric of our shared heritage and we seek to preserve their stories as well. We provide tours, exhibits, and other programs throughout the year designed to engage audiences across a broad demographic spectrum.

Today in Bucks County History: October 22, 1781
The Doan Gang Robbery of the Bucks County Treasury

Eleven Loyalist gang members raided the Newtown home and treasury of county treasurer John Hart, making off with 1,200 Spanish silver dollars and 400 French crowns meant to fund the Continental Army.

Raised as Quakers in Plumstead, the five Doan brothers (Moses, Aaron, Levi, Mahlon, and Joseph) and cousin Abraham broke from pacifist roots to spy and steal for the British.

Beyond the treasury raid, the gang stole over 200 horses for the Redcoats, robbed local tax collectors, and terrorized Patriot households through 1783.

Moses Doan was eventually killed in a shootout in 1783, Levi and Abraham were hanged in 1788, Aaron was eventually pardoned by Benjamin Franklin, and others fled to Canada.
