Abolition Road is just over a month away on Saturday, October 11th! Retrace the Route of Reform and walk 5 miles in the steps of 104 abolitionists who formed the New York State Antislavery Society in 1835.

Limited bus seating will be available for folks who want to ride part or all of the route. Visit abolitionroad.org to register for this year's walk.

Retrace the Route of Reform and travel along the route 104 anti-slavery abolitionists took in 1835 while escaping a mob in Utica, by taking part in the 5th Annual Abolition Road Walk. This five-mile walk that starts in Canastota, supports NAHOF and contributes to their mission to celebrate and continue the work of 19th-century abolitionists to abolish racism.

The NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center is hosting a new event, the Underground Railroad Today Festival on Saturday, September 12th. Retrace the Underground Railroad and discover its ties to today - all in our backyard. We are so excited for this one!

A new event, The Underground Railroad Today Festival, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center, 25 South St., Auburn.

We are proud and elated to announce that we have received a $55,000 Good Neighbor Grant from St Thomas' Episcopal Church, helping us hire a new Museum and Communications Manager. In less than a week, we will welcome Jeffrey M. Davis, a descendant of Rev. Samuel Joseph May, to Peterboro for "Fugitives, Friends, and the Fight for Freedom" on Sunday, August 23rd at 2:00 pm!
This free immersive multimedia presentation will bring the abolitionists of the 1850s to life, highlighting their efforts to aid freedom seekers. From escapes on the Erie Canal to the "Jerry Rescue" in Syracuse, you'll experience the sights and sounds of abolition in our backyard.
This special event wraps up our summer programming, but stay tuned for our upcoming October events! 😉
