Huge thanks to all who helped out last Saturday to clear our grounds and the woods of all this trash and debris! It was great to see the support of the community both for our historic site and for a cleaner environment in Pennsauken!

The 300 year old, native sandstone, colonial Quaker farmhouse includes a small museum of nostalgia and stands on beautiful grounds that include a nature trail, ample parking and space for festivals and special events.

It is with deep sadness that Pennsauken Historical Society notes the passing of a great friend and supporter of our history, Ted Huesken. Ted was a long-time and devoted volunteer of Griffith Morgan Committee and Pennsauken Historical Society. Ted spent countless hours in service to a plethora of historical organizations and causes and we were privileged to have been among the most benefited by his work. Ted was a humble and gentle man with a sly sense of humor, and he was a friend.
It is with great sadness that Pennsauken Historical Society notes the passing of a devoted volunteer and officer, a partner in many ways with our former Society President, and a staunch member of our community, Beverly Fitzpatrick. In the photo she and her husband Joseph Fitzpatrick receive recognition for their work with the Historical Society and other things, from the Township in 2011.
Come on out to historic Burrough-Dover House for a spooky fun time-12pm to 4pm today!
It is with great sadness that Pennsauken Historical Society notes the passing of Joan Weber on July 30. Joan was a volunteer, docent, and officer of Pennsauken Historical Society of many years’ standing. She was effectively the hostess of many events at Burrough-Dover House and, along with her husband John Weber, carried on the work of the Society after the retirement of long-time President Joseph Fitzpatrick. Joan’s involvement in her community extended beyond the Historical Society, often inextricably linked to her role as a mother, including as an assistant teacher in the school district, in Scouting and in a variety of roles in PTA. Joan was a warm and welcoming presence for Pennsauken Historical Society and her community and that presence will be greatly missed.

Pennsauken Historical Society wishes our community and all who love history a very safe and happy holiday season, but especially our friends, members, visitors, volunteers and officers! We hope to see much more of you all in the coming year at Burrough-Dover House and Griffith Morgan House whilst also keeping in touch with you virtually!
Pennsauken Historical Society is thankful for a community with both wonderful tales to be told and memories to recall. To all our friends, neighbors, members and volunteers, without whom we could not carry-on, a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Pennsauken Historical Society sadly notes the passing of volunteer Adele Haines, age 103. Until only a few years ago Adele was a mainstay at Burrough-Dover House, greeting visitors and revealing history. She was also a dedicated quilter and demonstrated that craft at our historic home as well. Adele Haines was an honored officer and valued volunteer of the kind who lend a historical organization life and personality. She will be missed.
With deep sadness, Pennsauken Historical Society notes the passing of a great friend of history, LuAnne Hill. An enthusiastic volunteer and officer of Pennsauken Historical Society for several years, LuAnne brought self-deprecating humor, an impressive breadth of knowledge of history and culture, and real initiative to our organization. She was the founding spirit behind our Pennsauken Area Historical Book Club, revised and enlivened our volunteer materials, and also helped out with any project others undertook. LuAnne could also tell a great yarn. She will be greatly missed.
Happy Thanksgiving to all our friends, members, volunteers and our community! This visitor to Burrough-Dover House from last year reminds us to keep our spirits up as we begin the turkey-trot out of 2020, a too-historic year!

Pennsauken Historical Society sadly notes the passing of our long-time volunteer, officer and docent, Joan Wells. Her pride and pleasure in showing Burrough-Dover House to visitors always added something special to her tours and she remained active in assisting our organization until very recently. She will be missed. https://mcgfuneral.com/tribute/details/179050/Joan-Wells/obituary.html?fbclid=IwAR1j93wiChXXbB6tbSy3fV7ibsTjbBqJGSb5r09dsueKiO-RRjWFprvE21U -start

What a gorgeous day for a kayak expedition when our friends from Penn Paddle journeyed up Pennsauken Creek from near Griffith Morgan House up with the tide to Burrough-Dover House where they stopped for lunch then back with the receding tide to near Griffith Morgan House! We were happy to provide our hospitality and a tour at each house, too!

Historic Burrough-Dover House recently was pleased to host the annual fundraiser event for Freedom Center for Wildlife, "Brunch with the Bunny." Here are some of our pix of that great, fun day for families and friends of local wildlife. Freedom Center for Wildlife will return to Burrough-Dover House on Sunday, May 5, for our annual "Colonial Earth Day" event which runs from 12pm to 4pm! Come out to see the animals, the grounds and trail, and more, and enjoy a fine spring day of history and nature!

Our first visitors of the Spring at Burrough-Dover House! Unfortunately they forgot to make an appointment and we are not open until Sunday!
Our season for history at Burrough-Dover House is not far off, but the old property still waits for its Spring spruce-up and new life.
